Sesame! The halvah I'm most familiar with (Jewish and Greek variety) has sesame seeds and/or sesame paste (tahini). It has both a gritty feel at first and then slightly silky feel, probably from the oils. Good stuff if you like sesame. That first picture looks like Rockets, which are among my favorite Halloween candies. I used to love the toffee/caramel candies that had the orange and black wrapper. I used to love them, their sort of like M&M's, but with a slightly fake flavour. I don't enjoy them so much anymore, guess my taste changed.

Then there's this Scandinavian specialty called salmiak, usually produced as small black lozenges, also known as salty liquorice. It contains a large amount of ammonium chloride. I think it's not too popular elsewhere in the world, for a good reason
