Man and "Science" has changed their minds again. As of August 24, 2006: Pluto has been downgraded and is no longer a planet. With this in mind Pluto has become my hero Planet. Why not? I hope to be downgraded and spit upon too (just not by you).

According to the new definition, a full-fledged planet is an object that orbits the sun and is large enough to have become round due to the force of its own gravity. In addition, a planet has to dominate the neighborhood around its orbit.

Pluto has been demoted because it does not dominate its neighborhood. Charon, its large "moon," is only about half the size of Pluto, while all the true planets are far larger than their moons.

Segue /// The Side-tracked thought of Sparrow: <another flight of fancy>
The "planet" had sufficient gravity to become round, they say, but didn't dominate the neighborhood. To my Christian way of thinking that's pretty Godly instruction. Round thyself and dominateth not thy brother and sister an' kin. I also wouldn't mind finding a good sized moon either. Planetary Courtship thought that. I wonder if Charon was a gift to Pluto? I'm thinking that Pluto was a happy true planet and content to orbit the sun as any planet should.... but did he know the cost or even count it as the "gift" of Charon's orbit was altered and added unto him? Kinda doubt it. The Dwarf Planet didn't even care that in 2006 man would "downgrade" ---? he had his mind focused on Roche's limit and pondered the breaking thereof.

Pluto will always be a star. After all, it has a Disney character named after it. A Disney character beloved by all. Pluto doesn't need to worry about some silly opinions of mere men here on earth.

Though Pluto is not a planet, i voted pluto.

A big sphere of ice! Blue is my favorite color, a big sphere of ice would be beautiful. Also imagine never having to wait for your drinks to get cold :yes

Ohohhh Sparrow~

Is Charon just a really large moon, or are Pluto and Charon a double planet? Hmmmm…..?
Pluto is small relative to the other planets. In fact, there are a total of 15 bodies in the solar system larger than Pluto ~ But Pluto makes up for its small size by having the most gargantuan moon ~ compared to its planet ~ in the solar system. Charon is a whopping half ~ the size of Pluto. Charon was discovered in 1978 by Jim Christy. Prior to that it was thought that Pluto was much larger since the images of Charon and Pluto were blurred together.

(The next largest duo is the Earth-Moon pairing, but our Moon is only a quarter the size of Earth, and even that is prominent among moon-planet pairs in the solar system.) :yes

Yet still another highly interesting side-note is this: Tidal effects that Pluto and Charon exert on each other have locked the two bodies into mutual spin~orbit resonance, meaning that one face of Charon always looks at Pluto while one face of Pluto always looks at Charon; :D it is as though the two bodies form a dumbbell spinning in space. Number of moons: 2 or 3, depending on whether Pluto~Charon is a double planet or Charon is Pluto's moon. So~ these two dance about one another in a lovely blue haze ceaselessly.

What is different, is that standing on Pluto, Charon does not appear to move relative to the horizon. That’s because Charon orbits over Pluto’s equator. :eyebrow A longer term cycle also affects the phases and that is Pluto’s orbit around the sun. Since Pluto’s rotation axis is tipped on its side, it has very pronounced seasons. Unlike our Moon, Charon also undergoes the same exact seasons, :chin and the only time you will see a completely full moon from Pluto would be at the start of spring or fall.

This is Biblical. :yes To crack a Uranus joke would amount to cracking a heavens joke because that is what the name means  Uranus < Ouranos, Greek for "heaven." It has nothing whatsoever to do with one's you-know-what.

I voted for Venus, our Earth's twin sister planet.
