what makes australia great

Great Barrier Reef (one of the places I want to visit one of these days!)

Also, Austrailians have the best accent of anyone on the planet.

If they can only get the Drop Bears under control and they'll be the greatest nation ever! :lol

that area like my hometown has great whites!

hmm those kwoala bears are cute! what about the taz!

he's awesome. need a house cleaned out he's the man. of course i sound like that when i'm mad.

This is great thread.

Have you noticed that stuff in America is grand eg the Grand Canyon, but stuff in Australia is great, eg Great Barrier Reef, Great Australian Bight, Great Dividing Range, Great Sandy Desert. :D

We don't have guns, but we got REAL knives:

Those Koalas are pretty cute, but I got scratched while holding one. They (no joke) can rip parts of your face off. Just give them an eucolyptus leaf and you'll be fine! :D But those Tazzie Devils are something else. Completey psyco. :crazy

I've only been to Fraser Island, which is on the very edge of the GBR....I'd love to go there someday as well, but it's pretty expensive. Due to global warming, the coral is bleaching so it's unlikely to be around for longer than 20 years. :verysad

And FYI, the drop bears are completely under control. :biglol ;)

Well like America, Australia has freedom of expression, religon and media. (although with the propsed internet filters, sadly not much more :shame).

I think it's safe to say that Australia is so great because it's so close to New Zealand...
:lol
Ahh no. :D

More likely the other way round. :P

You might be right.

Poisonous spiders, poisonous snakes, arid desert, the blowflys at Perth, the mugginess of Brisbane, the fact that Darwin seems to be 36 degrees and thunderstorms all year round, all in a country the size of Europe with only 1/8th of it inhabitable - all that does sound more attractive than little ol' NZ

And what is up with the platypus anyway!?
:P :P :P

Hey, we're the most dangerous country - better than NZ! (at least we didn't get expelled from ANZUS! :P)

See, when the Japanese bombed Darwin, up in the north, really who cares? There's 2,000 k's of nothing but desert between Darwin and places like Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne. They can take all the desert for all we care. :D
Although they did get 2 subs into Sydney harbour.....I believe they're still there at the bottom. Some explorers found them a couple of years ago.

What do you mean, what's up with the platypus? It's pretty unique aye?

Yes! I first saw it on the plane coming home from Kazakhstan. I loved it, so we rented it recently so Timothy could see it :thumb
yeah, It's a pretty good movie but probably not the best movie for tourism, which could have been what was aimed at.

What continent is New Zealand part of?
I'm going to take a stab without research and say none. Becasue we have North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Africa and Antarctica. So that leaves Australia, but Australia is the only continent that is a country.
