What, No Holloween Debate??

So! It looks like we made it all the way through Holloween without a thread on Holloween! ... unless I missed it...

Good job everyone! I'm proud of you all, this is a first :clap:lol

Let's hope that we can avoid a "Christmas" debate as well...it's nice when we all respect each others' liberty in these things! :thumbsup

I am a heathen and I celebrate Christmas with a tree decorated, a nativity scene under the tree, and always watch the midnight mass at St. Patrick's cathedral on the CW. The least Christians can do is celebrate. :p

A co-worker and friend told me any dressing up or trick or treating is honoring satan. I told him he was flat out wrong, dressed the kids up, and went trick or treating. :D

My view is that free lollies is always awesome :D however I have recently developed the view that in a way halloween is making a mockery of satan in such a way as to make him out as a joke, that he has no power. The two greatest mistakes we can make about satan and demons is to deny they exist, and to become obsessed with them. I think that halloween (can depend on the extent you do it) can apply to both of these, especially the first, and in that way I think it's dangerous.
Having said that, personally it's not really a concern as it's not celebrated much over here.

Oh sorry Caroline! Did I start up a debate? :D

What? So I'm not socialist anymore? Gee that took about 18 months :D

lol, ah yes. i remember that nick?

should i for old time sake call you one?

i think you enlightened me on the difference of capitalism with some socialistic aspects versus the socialism found in the u.s.s.r.

and yes do you have some of that influence but that is to be expected. i have not heard of a small govt aussie.

And FYI one of the two major parties in parliament is a conservative small government party. Their slogans for the recent election:
"End wasteful spending, pay back Labor's debt, stop Labor's new taxes, Stop the boats".

But anyways, :topictotopic

Yeah, Nick!

Moderator note. Considering deleting thread by Caroline being untoward to members who weren't around for past Halloweens and didn't know there was a moratorium on Halloween threads! I'll keep that in mind for future holidays, albeit "pagan" holidays. :gah

:D (post does not necessarily reflect the feelings of the author who has no opinion of people who choose to participate in pagen holidays) :D
