What Time Is It?

Mike

Clearly, Eastern Standard Time in America is the best time zone, and everyone should do the right thing and fall in line ;) , but since this isn't like to happen...

With people all over the world, it would be interesting to see how far behind or ahead of us other members are.

State the time and day of the week of your post in your message, and we can compare it to the time-stamp on it. If you care to, I suggest saying where you are posting from as well. I'll go first.

Tuesday, 6:15 AM
Michigan, United States

mike while im on the same time zone as you are. i like the idea of mine that we should all sync on greenich time(zulu).

Sydney, Australia. Australian Eastern Standard (AES) GMT + 10.

Current time here 9:22 PM Tuesday 17th.

The best time:

you listened attentively and heard serries of terrible snores. Crickets confirmed - noise, frogs sing a chant. It is night.

Happy children singing and coming home, banging on the door. Then, it's afternoon, and school is over.

Terrible traffic, horns, clatter, chaos everywhere: another crazy morning.

My clock says it is 4:07 PM on Tuesday, April 17th
(Pacific Daylight Time, UTC -7)

Just curious, isn't the timestamp for the posts calibrated to zone? I'm pretty sure the timemark for this post will agree with my time on my screen.

[EDIT]: Confirmed

Wow, I'm 15 hours ahead of you. Your posted 7:29 AM on the morning of the 18th.

That's what I thought would be neat about this! It's kinda funky to think how some people you're exchanging with at any time are on a way different part of their day... or night. You're really on your own down there in Australia. You're even on your own day! :lol

What's not so funny is Classik. All his posts in this thread and no local time! :chair

7:17 PM Mountain Daylight Time...

I HATE our time zone. For some reason, the time lords decided to create this big "bump" in the Mountain Time Zone to keep Boise and Ontario, OR in the MTZ.

This means that it stays light outside in the summer until almost 11:00 at night. Conversely, it is pitch black outside until almost 8:00 am in the winter time. I hate it when I drop the kids off in school in town in the winter time... it's pitch black dark, everyone has their lights on... and there's a confusing mess of cars and kids. It's scary sometimes.

They didn't do this with northern Idaho... just south western Idaho... Eastern Idaho being in the MTZ and rightly so. Not sure why they figured that Boise and western OR needed to be in the MTZ, but it was OK for northern Idaho to be in PTZ. :shrug It would certainly make much more sense if we could just be in PTZ.

View attachment 2357 The yellow is the Mountain Time Zone, which, as everyone can see goes in a fairly straight N-S line...except for that huge "bump" of southwest Idaho and southeast OR.

Dora, I provided you with a solution in my OP. Just set your clocks forward to Central Standard Time. We love it over here. The sun rises and sets at precisely the perfect minute every day. We're all just so happy in CST, we can't even stand it. Everyone has pot-luck block parties every evening, we all smile and give hugs to whomever we meet, and in the winter, warm cider falls from the sky into our waiting cups.

Why? Because we're in the Central Time Zone, of course! :)

Dr. Who! I love that show! :D
Yes! We need to get the tardis in here and go on an adventure with Dr. Who and change the past somehow so our country is all in the same time zone! Maybe the oogs could help. They seem smart and able enough to pull something like that off.

I could use a Tardis to get my kids safely to school in the wintertime!!! Besides, think of what it would do for their cred... showing up in a ride like that!

Mike, if I were to set my clock forward to Central Time... my kids would be going to school an hour and a half before sunrise as opposed to a half hour before sunrise... I don't think that's gonna help me much. :chin Right? Or would it be an hour and a half later, making them perennially tardy? Which one is it... I can never figure this out!!!
