What will our physical age be in the afterlife?

So, from the fact that Jesus was resurrected in a physical body, we can infer that the afterlife will be a physical state too, not just a spiritual one. But how old will our physical bodies be there?
The fact that the resurrected Jesus looked the same as before his death can mean 3 things:
-We will all be 33.
-We will all be in the physical age we were when we died (in that case, I guess it sucks to die in an old age).
-We will all be in our prime (25 or so). Jesus probably came back as an 25 year old man but no one noticed the difference.
What do you think?

I couldn't care less. I KNOW NOTHING about Heaven. I know NOTHING about life there, and since the spiritual realm is apparently nothing like the "Physical/material" realm. "Age" (and time) may not even be a consideration there.

1 Cor 15:35 But someone will say, “How are the dead raised? And with what kind of body do they come?”

1 Cor 15:36 You fool! That which you sow does not come to life unless it dies;

If you do "infer that the afterlife will be a physical state too - you inferred wrong!

You will be raised in a "spiritual" body. So how do you see a spiritual body? Is it with your physical eyes?? No, it is with your spiritual eyes. You have spiritual eyes now, but not everyone sees with the, because it is written that with their ears they don't hear (or barely hear) and with their eyes they don't see. To properly get the answer we need to start seeing with our spiritual eyes!

The word of the Lord (Jesus Christ) appeared to Abram in a vision (Gen 15), so what we that like? Do you get dreams of visions?

John was on Patmos when the Spirit of God came on him and He was Jesus standing there, but it was not quite like when John was walking with Him in the flesh, was it? And what else did John see and how was it like when he was taken up in the Spirit to heaven. He didn't see a lamp, did he? Then seeing with our spiritual eyes are how we pickup things in our spirit, is it not? So people will see you in your spiritual body with their spiritual eyes and thus the impression they pick up of you in their spirit when coming across you spiritual body.

Rev 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet,

This then also applies to how we pick up things with our spiritual ears. The Lords voice sounded to John, when in the Spirit, like the sound of a trumpet. There may be times when we hear someone with our physical ears that they are loud and proclaiming, and we might even say they sound like a trumpet, but it is metaphorical - which is to say that our while our physical ears heard sound waves our spirit picked up the urgency an effect that a trumpet has on us. We just don't understand this very well.

In the same way when you pick up someone with your spiritual eyes they don't always come across the same way, do they? Sometimes we say that person has a sweet spirit, forgetting the the Word of God is found on our lips also. So when you come across that person in heaven you will see them as sweet, will you not?

Rev 5:6 And I saw between the throne (with the four living creatures) and the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth.

That is a weird way to see Jesus Christ, but that is what John said He saw at that moment. And not him only! John the Baptist was able to see with his spiritual eyes before that.

Jn 1:36,37 Again the next day John was standing with two of his disciples, and he looked at Jesus as He walked, and *said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”

So John the Baptist saw both with his physical eyes in that he saw Jesus as He walked, and John the Baptist also saw with his spiritual eyes and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God!"

So why are we asking the question. Do we not already know? Are we seeing with our spiritual eyes and hearing with our spiritual ears or is it us who the Bible refers to:

Eze 12:2 “Son of man, you live in the midst of the rebellious house, who have eyes to see but do not see, ears to hear but do not hear; for they are a rebellious house.

Deut 29:4 “Yet to this day the LORD has not given you a heart to know, nor eyes to see, nor ears to hear.

Rom 11:8
just as it is written,
“GOD GAVE THEM A SPIRIT OF STUPOR,
EYES TO SEE NOT AND EARS TO HEAR NOT,
DOWN TO THIS VERY DAY.”

People - if you seek Jesus Christ and listen to Him will He not show you things? Will you not get your answers?

We have spiritual eyes and ears, but do we use them. Do we seek God with them? What does He then show us, and tells us? Does not all flesh fade away? You then will have a spiritual body and will not then have a fleshy body. Indeed, it is the spiritual body that you are meant to be in, yet at this time like a grain of wheat you are contained in something that will die. You are not thinking you will be like the grain of wheat do you, but like what you are meant to be, right? You are meant to be a spirit with a spiritual body!


Again 1 Cor 15: 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

We should then be preparing for that, right. So let us start using our spiritual eyes and ears and seek the Lord our God, because the Kingdom of God is in our midst, right?

We know flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of God as we will be changed into new glorified bodies as none of us knows what we shall be, but will be like Christ in His glorified body, 1 Corinthians 15:50-58. The realm of God is spiritual as we will be made spiritual so one can only speculate about how we will look or even if there is any difference in ages.

Rev 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Rev 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Rev 21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
Rev 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Rev 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Some scriptures do however imply that there will be a new Earth created for the believers.

Personally I believe that God is in the making of a new Earth for us, that will be like Eden.
Just like Earth as we know it. But completely without all the bad parts.
And the good parts being even better.
Still the same.
People, dogs, trees, rivers and so on. Only much much better!
That is what I think. But nobody really knows other than what the Bible says about it.
We are spirit and the spirit realm is even more real than most or maybe anyone realize...
There will be no time there. The Bible says..

No time.. what i meant is that there will be endless time there.. and nothing but joy my brothers and sisters in Christ. Forever!

I don't think so. Maybe all of the visions that people get of being taken up to visit heaven for various reasons and so forth, the saints and spiritual beings that they see there (which is where the testimonies of appearing 33 in your human prime come from), are shown to us as humans because it doth not yet appear what we shall be, and it's not germane to the message at the time?

but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is...and since He has not yet appeared, we're kept in the dark about what our form will be then. I guess we could be on a need to know basis, and we don't need to know yet,

We do know that it will be life on a higher plane of existence. One which transcends all biological function, even sex.

If my book sells then I intend to write a sequel and maybe a series of stories. I intend to show the 2 main characters being any age assigned or beneficial to the assignment given in the after life.

It's exciting to ponder this question since the Bible hasn't told us every detail! Thanks for bringing it up. I'm enjoying reading these responses.
The angels/messengers of the Bible all seem to be mature, though not old. Much like Jesus's age when he died.
I recently read The Great Divorce by CS Lewis and this topic was addressed. It's a fictional story, but one of the characters says that they appear in age according to what best serves the situation. I am not sure if this suggested that we will be in control of that, or God. In a book of near death experiences called "Imagine Heaven" by John Burke, you can read testimonials of spiritual bodies spanning all ages.
I personally think that every case is different and that our bodies will reflect best the way God sees us and who we are to him. And if he needs us to greet a recently deceased person we might be made a temporary age to best comfort those people at that time.

I've read that book too and it is one of the inspirations for my story. My book is a Christian Christmas Fantasy Fiction. I left the end of my story open to a possible sequel.
