What would you do?

Hey Kathi, I've been in similar situations like that. I was asked by the coordinator, a young woman why I don't go to their business/social gatherings. I told her, I have to work with you people all day, I choose not to spend my time off with you all. She said "I'm hurt". She knew I was a solid Christian, didn't drink, and never gone to those drunken affairs usually at a hotel. Yep? Even a discount on the rooms....No thanks, I'll take the demotion. Funny thing, I led one of the men in management to the Lord and never had a problem with demotions.
:thumbsup

Ok.As long as you could deal with the peer pressure and also the negative comments from your boss.

Why do you think there would be negative comments from your Boss? If he is a true boss his first interest is in the success of the company. How is having an employee who gets the sleep they need and presents themselves well a bad thing for the company?

I'd take the promotion. I'm not being told I Have to do something immoral.

hallowbonnie im not an introvert, I just don't find much in common with the current people I work with, if I want to talk about old vero then I will chat and become a chatter box or the military or end times or such like. I have discussed end times with a believer in IT last week since he works in the part where they download the reads and load routes.

oh no I didnt say that but its cool I am an introvert but Im like that as well if I get on a certain subject with someone I can really get deep with them.

You have just been promoted in your job.It is a huge hike in pay and benefits. You have a family to support. The company has told you that if you do not take this promotion they may have to put you in another area of the company with less pay.The job involves traveling with other co-workers involved.Staying in hotel rooms with co-workers who were both men and women. They meet together for meetings and often have dinner. You have heard that sometimes those co-workers drink heavily and get involved in intimate situations with each other. What would be more important to you as a Christian? To have alot more money to support your family and take this promotion maybe be able to buy a nice home and have the nicer things you think your family would like or maybe be demoted and looking at the moral aspect of this promotion?

I assume in this scenario that I am married, so I would talk it over with my wife. If I wasn't married, I'd take the promotion and sleep in the bathtub, making sure no one joined me. I've done that before, and it's pretty comfortable with a comforter and pillow. If I was married, I'd refuse to take the promotion until I had a chance to talk it over with my wife, and then I would defer to her desires. If that meant finding another job, so be it.

If someone saw you sleeping in the bathtub I am sure they would stay their distance. That is a very smart move to first pray about it together with your wife and then see what God wants.

I actually got the idea from a photo of Cary Grant laying in a tub on a pillow with his clothes on. It makes sense to me, regardless of the situation, to talk over any kind of job change with your spouse, because it will eventually affect them.

I could do it.Think outside the box hu?

I have been in numerous situations where I could have compromised. In some cases, I did. In many, I did not, and I had to come up with some unconventional ways to go about it. I once slept in a rowboat in a lake to get away from harassment.

Why not?
dunno.gif

Just because my fellow workers want to get drunk and sleep with one another doesn't mean I have to follow suit.

.
My friend got a promotion and was with all the big wigs.
They took one of their monthly meetings to a Gentlemen's Club.
He knew about it ahead of time but chose to go anyway.
So he sits there while they watch the strippers, drink alcohol, swear, joke and the like.
Then he looks to me for support in the decision he made.
Then when they saw he didn't fit in, they found a way to fire him anyway.
So where did it get him?
All it did was weaken his relationship with God.

I think that would be a wise move.

I can see that.It is so very tempting. The extra money, the wonderful benefits but didn't Satan tempt Jesus too?

I have had issues with porn and lust, so I would not go into a strip club and expect to come out morally clean. Wisdom is necessary in avoiding problems. I can go to a bar and not drink, but I have never been inside a strip club because I know myself well enough to know I'd do the bad thing.

That is a wise and moral decision to me.You know what you can handle.

My cousin had a situation very similar to this in his first job after only being married for a few months. His employer told him that they needed him to travel on weekends with a young female co-worker. I don't think they were even going to be in the same room together or anything. He decided not to do it and they had to let him go.

Good for him, praise the Lord!

Now that is different than the other example. He think he made a wise decision.
