Growth Whatever He says, you Do!

"Whatever He say to you do it." John 2:5

This was what Mary, the mother of Jesus, said to the servants at the wedding in Cana. This was Jesus first miracle. The servants had to do a lot of work to fill six waterpots with water. This was equivalent to 100 to 150 gallons of water. There was no water tap or facet to get the water from. They had to carry the water from the well.

"They filled them up to the brim." (John 2:7) Something compelled the servants to do the work necessary to fill the pots to the brim.

Are we unconditional servants for Jesus? Are we willing to serve Him with reckless abandon? When we do we reap the rewards of our labor. Just like the servants at the wedding in Cana, we must have faith that produces obedience "to the brim."

It's when we die to our own self will that we surrender to Gods will in all things. If God is calling us to do something that we might think is not something we can do, He will make a way for us to follow His will as we trust in His leading us and preparing the way.

Lexy, had teaching in a Bible college coarse. They used Elisha as an example. It was called "a place called 'there'". How Elisha was called to go there and wherever that maybe, Elisha went.
If He tells us to 'go there' we should be an Elisha.

Elisha's commitment to God was complete. To show he was not "one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back"

Elisha returned to his oxen and slaughtered them. He used the wood from the plow to build a fire to roast their flesh. He passed around the meat to the townspeople, and they all ate. Then he went with Elijah as his assistant. 1 Kings 19:21

Thank you so much...this is so encouraging to me! :hug

I will go Lord, if You lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.

Many people say this stuff. They say they want to follow Jesus with all their heart and all they have, but how many actually mean it? You have to give up a lot to follow Him.

I would love to hear that song, but I'm still on dial up and it takes forever to open videos. The price you pay for living out in the country and even satellite for internet is not even available yet.

Yes, here I am Lord and I will follow. Lead my path Lord that I might not sway to the left or the right, but stay on the straight and narrow.

Actually Sandy, for me at least, there really wasn't much that I gave up that was worth holding on to when I came to know that love of Christ and that He has a better life for me. All I gave up was a lifestyle that was leading me to my own damnation. I like the new life so much better, praise His Holy name.

I agree. What is there to give up to serve Jesus. But why is it then that so few will actually follow Him? We are afraid to go all in because someone might laugh at us or we might lose some material wealth. Sometimes we may have to put our lives on the line to serve Him. Why are we so afraid to lose something that isn't worth anything anyway? I find in today's world, "The harvest truly is plentiful, the the laborers are few." Matthew 9:37 NKJ Few people will give up even a few minutes to pray. Few people will go out side their comfort zone for the Lord.

I understand. Living in the country is its own reward. I have a few hundred acres in very rural Adirondacks, and I love being there, without any cable or satellite or mobile phone service.

if these type of people you speak of truly knew Jesus they would leave all and pick up their cross and follow him

It is a problem throughout the ages. People are like sheep, they want to follow the crowd. Very few will step outside the crowd, even Christians. In order to follow Christ you must step outside the crowd.

Very dangerous idea to follow. If He told you to kill a baby, you'd have to do it. If he told you to walk off a bridge into a river, you'd have to do it. Your born into a kind of celestial straightjacket.

Whatever God would tell me to do I will do as I might not have the understanding of why, but would trust in His purpose and reason. I come to Jesus of my own freewill and allow no man to teach me apart from the Holy Spirit teaching me as I have denied all and have picked up my cross to follow him. I love my parents and my husband with all my heart and soul, but yet Christ has to come first in my life as I live by Gods will and not my own.

Mat 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Mat 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
Mat 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Mat 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
Mat 16:28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

Mat 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
Mat 10:38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
Mat 10:39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
