What's this with not calling someone a LADY, if she has a tattoo (even faith based)?

Okay, so this is another suggestion received:

Farouk, maybe this could be the subject of a new poll for you... How many men ... by the mere sight of a faith-based tattoo on a Christian woman's arm, wrist or calf ... automatically think that their sister in the Lord is hardly a "LADY" for the mere fact of sporting one.

I had not planned this thread, but what with Jethro's comments on another thread and handy's suggestion for a new one: does anyone want to comment on the idea of supposedly losing 'ladyhood', even if she gets some tasteful faith based ink?

(To explain futher: Jethro claimed 'ladies' supposedly don't get tattoos; and handy took exception to his claim.)

I guess I rather strongly agree with handy...

PS: I'm not claiming handy's idea was silly; I'm claiming instead that the nuance about ink and 'ladyhood' is linguisitically obscure.

It's also arbitrary. For example, someone could make similar comments about the double pierced ears, high heels, etc (which many pastors' wives have). Frankly, such suggestions are arbitrary and even rude, in my view.

Someone stated that a tatoo on a woman is a Tramp Stamp.
He also said that if she will get a tatoo, she will smoke, and if she will smoke, she will drink, and if she will drink she will do anything.
Is all this connected and true?
Im certain that there are those here, >the wise ones< with the experience, who will know.

But I can imagine someone from a Fundamentalist background making a sweeping claim like this, seeing imagined connections.

(BTW, the placement known as the Tramp Stamp is the lower back. This placement is not uncommon among late-teen cheerleaders, etc. Some medical practitioners have speculated that epidurals are best avoided among women with this tattoo placement, although no firm, long term evidence has emerged of linkages between epidural difficulties and this tattoo placement. Linguistically, the phrase is sometimes used in a deliberately pejorative way.)

My wife, daughter, mother, daughter-in-law, and sister are just a small sampling of the women I know who have tattoos, and every one of them is a lady.

F, ....I think it was an unregenerate Cop (now retired) that worked in Boston who originally came up with the "tramp stamp" motto, and who also made the connections-correlations betwixt a tattoo, a drink, a cigarette, and a morally flexible "chick".

To answer your question (though the thread isn't really about me; I only started it because I was encouraged to do so):

In terms of Biblical theology I would probably have a lot in common, in theory, with people who call themselves Fundamentalist Christians, but I don't describe myself in those terms, because they so often seem to carry with them a certain, Anglocentric mindset and cultural assumptions, where so many things which may be at best a matter of preference and opinion are asserted as theologically inviolable. (Okay, now that this is out of the way, back to the real subject of the thread...)
