What's this with not calling someone a LADY, if she has a tattoo (even faith based)?

Does the idea of a 'lady' or 'woman' with a tattoo mean pretty much the same thing?

Here is the thing with opening a tattoo parlor is that you have to be versatile and flexible and knowledgeable in all areas of the various type of tattoos within it's artistry. Say you are a Christian running your own parlor, I do not see it being a successful business unless you compromise your faith and tat those things of Satan on someones body when requested to do so. I know there is a high percentage of those being a Christian getting tats, but not as high as those who are not in Christ. I have no problem with anyone getting a tat whether it be a man or a women and most tats reflect that of ones character or even emotion at the first, but then changes after the fact and are stuck with the choice they made if it can not be perfectly covered over by another tat. In some cases it is body art and in other cases it is a form of rebelling against something. A lady is a lady not by what we see on the outside, but that of their character.

Well, thank-you very much for your (as usual, it seems) very thoughtful post.

I understand that for you personally the giving of them might pose some dilemmas with some hypothetical clients.

It seems from what you say, though, that, however discreetly, you are definitely comfortable with asserting tattoo equality between men and women.

Blessings.

PS: for_his_glory: You know I think you have hit the nail on the head when you express it this way. On the one hand the character is not on the outside, but it's inward; on the other hand tatts so often reflect something of the inward character.

Expressing it this way is all part of the intriguing and often benign dilemma surrounding what has become a thoroughly womanly, as well as manly, practice.

How do we so many posts of something so simple?

Could it be our very own Farouk keeps it in the forefront? :p

I have 3 sons and one daughter...she is the eldest. .. She .. has one on her neck that reads HALAL which is Hebrew for "Worship clamorously" .. .

PS: Stan53:

Yes, well it doesn't surprise me re. getting tattooed that often Christian women like to do it.

Faith based designs often lead to witness conversations with people.

Also, to your interesting comments I would add that increasingly the distinction between a cover up, and an extra tatt has become somewhat blurred if not altogether merged. For example, a first tatt on a wrist or ankle may well sprout a secondary one which relates to the design of the first in some way. An able tattooist can often accomplish this very tastefully. What may have begun as a small, first-timer wrist tattoo — flower, Bible ref., etc — can later sprout leaves or words by way of a quotation from the reference, thereby turning an originally small wrist tatt into something approaching a half-sleeve. Formerly, half-sleeves or full-sleeves were less usual among tattooed women, but they are no longer unusual.

(I hope this seems like a reasonable observation to people.)

shfam, from back a bit:

I love pretty and tactful tattoos. I don't like tattoos everywhere. Just doesn't look good to me, that's my opinion. I think it isn't healthy for your body but I've considered getting one. Perhaps my favorite scripture or something small.

To me, it is no different than women getting their ears pierced.

Well, yes, certainly it can be a ladylike, womanly thing to get, especially if they are pretty and tactful, like you say.

Blessings.
