I remember in those days when had almost no member online (just few months ago). Here was boring. Threads stay ages before they get replies.

In the days of ErictheBaptist, Pebbles, Rhea (I miss her) etc...

There were occassions where I was the only member online. It was awful! Today, however,.....:D

This.place used to be really active, then it went through a slump. It's been up for a while now.

Kind of like the stock market, right? up and down...

It's a great site here.

It may be difficult to accept that this is not a dig at the two prolific 'threadsters' above but is 'more' really better?

A few jokes and amusing posts are always very welcome but is a constant string of lightweight posts really what people want to discuss?

I came here with the specific purpose of learning, and I did, but the serious posts get swept aside far too soon in the rush to introduce 'more and more' rather than 'better and better'.

Some of those missing posters have left because they got fed up with nonsense posts, ignorance and insults. I understand their feelings but I have stayed because I don't think it is ever good to let the 'lowest common denominator' drive you away. It is not quite accurate to call it 'bullying' but that is how people feel sometimes.

I'm all for 'quality' rather than 'quantity' and I would like to think that a few others are too.:twocents

:wave I'm here to stay as I get a golden nugget every once in awhile and I also try to leave some at the same time and hope it enriches someone else's life. Forums are only that of what you give and what you take from them as we try to fellowship with one another whether it be by sharing a joke, a question or deep theology discussions.

Hey! Don't be leavin' any nuggets in my front yard! :toofunny

OK, sorry. That was a stretch. So much so, I think I hurt myself ...

I do like a light thread just to kick back with once in awhile, but like yourself I do enjoy thinking about "stuff" once in awhile. You've certainly caused me to think on occasion.

Do you know who I really miss? I miss Elijah. Something tells me he's gone to sleep. He was one of the first people I met when I came to this forum in 2004. He was a bit hard to understand, but he made you think. You had to put effort into each of his posts. Most would dismiss him as a crazy old bird, but if you sat back and took the time to dig into his posts, he had many good nuggets... I also miss PouringRain, Lovely and Cornelious (died a few years back). There are others, but I can also provide a list of those I'm glad have left lol.

This forum is intended to be a place of fellowship for all kinds of believers. Some dig deep, and some are more light-hearted. We shouldn't look down on anyone or any post because the subject matter is not what we deem relevant. If you're not interested in a topic, you don't have to view it. I can't feel bad for someone who's annoyed because s/he has to scroll down a little to find something interesting. :shrug

While the high volume of activity is a nice indicator of some things, we have no interest in being what our COM counterpart is. Bigger is most definitely not always better. It's nice to have a place big enough for a range of topics but small enough so that you're familiar with most members. :yes

I tend to mostly post in the light-hearted threads, although I initially joined here mainly for the purpose of learning. Some of the serious threads do provide helpful insight. I find that engaging in too many debate-type threads, though, makes me feel rather uptight. So I tend to avoid getting involved in the discussion unless I have something that may be helpful to say, or unless I know the subject well enough for serious discussion.
