When Star Wars came out initially it was awesome. New themes to ponder upon and some of the latest special effects Hollywood could create. Robots with special purpose and not what we had seen in the past with robots. Much more believable.
Especially with people claiming mundane lifestyles while using all this fabulous tech.

Now "the Force" and Yoda quotes have been trite for 30+ years...never mind "I'm your father".

Knowing JJAbrahms style and fashion its probably got two major plot twists and nail biting the whole time.

So its probably a decent movie...but it won't be like the original that George pulled off. So my thoughts are " meh".

it has two twists. the person who is killed isn't one who I thought will be killed

I'm just kinda bummed that this is erasing the EU as canon. I got attached to the EU characters. Jason and Jaina Solo, Luke's new Jedi Order, Mara Jade, Ben Skywalker, ehhhhhhh.

Star Wars is my biggest fandom outside of anime. I do WANT to see this in theaters if I can.

Yes as usual jj.does that.Lea and Han did have two kids who were jedi, and none were conetted to the dark side.

I wonder if these movies will have a sort of loose connection to the EU. Maybe borrow some plot points.

I think you will be disappointed in this.I have thar feeling if you thar hardcore about star wars.I hate jj Abrams star trek.

JohnDB I was stunned at how much this film captured the feel and essence of the original. It brought me right back to 10-year-old me in 1977! Part of this is due to the limited use of CGI. Almost all of the characters and sets are real people, objects, and settings. It was maybe a little bit darker than A New Hope, but no where near as dark as episode 3.

I had confidence in JJ Abrahms heading into this film because of his track record, and he did NOT disappoint! It's like he single-handedly restored Star Wars to its roots after 1, 2, and 3 went their own way.

jasonc if I still had mod privileges, I'd edit some of what you said, because your toes were right on the line of spoiler. This is exactly why I made sure to see it right away. Tread lightly, brother! :shades

I wasn't too impressed that they kill a character played by maxwell von sidow.he is on par sir Alec guiness. Nor with Harrison Ford .

*makes mental note not to look up who the actor mentioned played*

I was given $20 for Christmas, if I don't end up needing that money somewhere more urgent I should go see the movie.

Yeah, posts containing spoilers without clear notification will be deleted. This is serious business people. For example:

SPOILERS!!!
Darth Vader is Luke's father.

I've also seen people change the color of the text for spoilers so that they're not visible without being highlighted. Not sure if that's possible here. I'll check...

It works like this. Can you read this?

edit:
White seems to be the least visible option, but it's still readable.

Well, got another check from another aunt for Christmas. Decided my present to my brother will be taking him to see Star Wars with me. Sometime this weekend.
