Mathew 13:37 He answered and said to them: "He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. 39 The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.

The field is the world, not the Church
The Lord sows the good seed (wheat)
The Devil sows the bad seed (tares)

Does this have any bearing on predestination?

Jesus says He knows those who are His. John 10:14

Mat 7:22
Many will say to Me in that day . . .
Mat 7:23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

Could those He never knew be the tares sowed by the Devil?

The sower of salvation is the Lord Himself, the wheat are the sons of the kingom (the elect).

I can assume this has much to to with predestination.

Romans 8:29 -30 Because those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers; and those whom He predestined, He also called; and those whom He called, He also justified; and those whom He justified, He also glorified.

My belief is that there are only 2 types of people in the world, the regenerate and the unregenerate. (saints and the aint's)

The tares are sewn into the world by satan, they are his children according to John 8:44

John 8:44 “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

These are the same people the Lord never "knew" intimately in Matthew 7:23

This is my belief.

The weeds are those who say they are Christians but do not live according to the commands of God. (Nor do they repent)

But it says they were planted by the Devil.

Mat 13:24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field;
Mat 13:25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.

The question is not how they live or their personalities. But it seems that they only exist because the Devil sowed them.

It makes me think of this passage:
Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; . . .

Mat 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. John

Tares are those who reject the word of God and the wheat are those who received gladly the word of God and have received Jesus as their Lord and Savior. The harvest is when Christ returns for His own while those who have rejected Him will have their place in the lake of fire in final judgement and the wheat will have their place with Christ in the New Jerusalem for all eternity, John 5:28-29; Rev 14:14-20; 20:15.

Mat 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
Mat 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
Mat 25:33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Mat 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: (Continue reading vs. 35-46 for the full context)

Wheat and tares, sheep and goats are the same as the wheat and sheep are Christ own and the tares and goats are those who might have heard the word of God, but yet ended up rejecting His word. Rev 20:11-15.

There are people whom say they are Christian but are of the Devil. And sometimes the wheat does get enough water and dies.
