I never doubted that when I die I would go to heaven.
Once I became "born again" I began eternal life with God.
Some day the body dies but I go on to be with God.
I won't have a body.
I won't have a mind to communicate as I do now.
I won't have my senses as I know them.
But I will be in communion with God the moment I die and forever more.
To know and understand this comes from the presence of the Holy Spirit in my life.

2 Timothy 2:11; "It is a trustworthy statement. For if we died with him, we will also live with him".

Some people will think my statement of faith is OSAS, and then they will argue that.
Those of you who do not know if they will be with God when they die, it is you I want to hear from the most.

We go to Sheol

The womb of the earth awaits those who sleep,
Pulling us into recesses of our deserved keep.
Enveloped by darkness or tormented with shame,
Or resting in great peace with those of good name.
But once there we can’t leave in any direction,
As chasms and angels serve as the protection.
And there we’ll all wait until time’s at its end,
To be spat out corrupted or gloriously born again.

Inspired by Luke 16:19-31, 2 Esdras 7:75-101, 1 Enoch 22

Real cute.
The Jehovah's Witnesses call that "soul sleep".

I agree with all you've said.
Paul said that if we're not in our body, then we're present with the Lord.

Jesus said that very day the thief would be with Him.

I don't think this has anything to do with OSAS...

Did you mean by the above that we could be sure that we're going to heaven?

No doubt about it.
Think about how much you love God.
Think about how much his Holy Spirit fills you every moment of your life.
Think about all his promises and how you believe in them.
Don't think about what the enemy is trying to do, which is crush your beliefs.
God has all the power and that power is being put in you through the Holy Spirit.
We have victory, 100 % victory, now and forever more, amen!

Hey Drew , what's your take on heaven and hell?
Thanks for asking.

On the matter of heaven: I believe scripture teaches that heaven is a "temporary" abode for the redeemed until bodily resurrection takes place on a redeemed and transformed physical earth. I believe that puts me in the minority, as I suspect that most believe the redeemed live forever in a disembodied state in heaven.

On the matter of hell: I believe in the annihilationist position - the lost ultimately cease to exist.

Yes. I agree that we can be sure of our salvation if we stay at the foot of the cross. Looking at Jesus while He looks at us. Trusting that whatever happens it's for our good, in some way.

What makes you believe in annihilation?

I believe hell is a frame of mind.

Do you mean now or after death?
Some say this is hell.
This is heaven and hell.
People who do not choose God are living in hell.
Real joy and peace come from God.
All those heathens don't have that.
We will continue our journey when we die.
The rest will simply remain in hell, a living hell.

I pay attention when I hear peoples testimonies about being taken up in the spirit and also a lot of NDE of people and try to see patterns of similarity, what the agree on and so forth...this helps see the big picture. So what I have gleaned from it all is,

You will have your mind and be conscious.
these have to be with no body if they are dead at that time, so in the spirit.
Some say they speak fine, others say it was mental like telepathy.
You will have all of your senses, in fact a lot of people have said it's like you have 50 senses or something because everything is more intense. Wider range of smells, a lot more colors and all that...

It used to be that man would go to paradise or sheol or whatever but that was before Jesus came. Now it's absent from the body, present with the Lord.

And we can know that our salvation can not fail at all. It takes faith to do this. If one is having doubts or a lack of faith problem, it's easy to increase ones faith and the Bible tells us how.
Faith comes by hearing the word of God. So you simply read more and pray more and the faith will come. I kid you not, it is that easy. Perhaps this is why many Christians seem to have faith problems, because they shy away from reading the word and then wonder why they have doubts!

That's the way I see it.

I think the translators put the punctuation in the wrong place in the statement by Christ to the thief on the cross.

They put it as, “I tell you, ‘today you will be with me in paradise’”.

But I think it more appropriately should be, “I tell you today, ‘you will be with me in paradise’”.

Do you see the difference?

I do not believe that we go straight to Heaven when we die. When Christ comes back, He will not only gather the righteous living to Himself, but also the righteous dead from their graves. The righteous dead will not already be with Him.

Can you please tell us how the annihilationist viewpoint can stand in the face of passages like Rev 14:11 “And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night,…”

I am not saying you are necessarily wrong, although I disagree with the annihilationist viewpoint, but I want to hear why YOU believe it.

Also, give us your perspective on 1 Cor 15:50-54.
