I always hear different answers,
satan vs. God argument.
Are we asking the right questions.
What exactly does satan have control over,
and what does God have control over.
Blessings.

ok. God never lost his throne. Satan is figuratively a prince just as God is a king. satan is allowed and has been since the fall to do whatever God allows.paul i referring to the idea that satan had control of the nations outside of isreal ere the cross and that the Lord through the gospel will cast him out and finally bind him and destroy him in gehenna or torment.

Mammon.

"10 For the love of money is the root of all evil..." (1 Timothy 6:10 KJV)

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. (Matthew 6:24 NIV)

The pursuit of money (mammon, the god of money, I think?), it seems, is the 'god' that controls the hearts and minds of all the world. It (he) is the prince and power of the air that all the people of the world are in subjection to. He is the ruler of the world.

But those of us who love Jesus are part of a heavenly kingdom that the god of this world has no power over.
Amen!

2 Corinthians 4:4 Here Paul tells us the answer...."In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." As you can see Paul said little g god of this world....i bet you now know who the god of this world is.:)

That's a really good scripture Grappler. If we say that satan is the god of this world then what is Genesis 1:26-28 in reference too, as in dominion..Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.†27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.†Us having dominion doesn't necessarily mean that we know right from wrong and good from evil. Human beings still sin along with having dominion.

However, there are many scriptures that speak of God being in control such as, Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. Does this mean even though an unbeliever denies Christ and doesn't have faith, that unbeliever is still under God's sovereignty even though they are ignorant to God? WOW! Mainly because of Romans 1:20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

I guess one of my main questions is, where exactly is the veil coming from that is covering their eyes, since the unbeliever not only doesn't believe in God, but he doesn't believe in the devil either. It's not that unbelievers are dumb or stupid, so what's the deal. Why the lack of faith. Why aren't unbelievers waking up at a faster rate and coming to Christ? If satan was the god of this world, nobody would be saved. Is it safe to say that God the Father is the God of this world, but satan only has control when God the Father is the authority behind the temptation?

If that is true then all life is, is just a test of FAITH FROM God the Father. I guess it's just a mystery to me. For example, when I was an unbeliever I couldn't tell you what kept me from Christ. I just couldn't tell you. It was simply, 'not believing.'

Joh 12:30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.
Joh 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
Joh 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

Is these talking about 'upon salvation' on this earth or after we're 'resurrected in the afterlife for judgment.' Blessings.

read it how ya wish how you think it to be..... I think it this way ..Jesus said.... Now shall the prince of this world be cast out...

I see Jesus proclaiming victory . I see the Salvation of man.... I see eternal life . Yes it is salvation exactly Man has victory over sin through the Blood of Christ. Satan lost.

And I believe you're right..Rev 12:7-10 Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, 8 but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.

2 Corinthians 4:4
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Acts 26:18
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

Mark 4:15
And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

Ephesians 2:2
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Acts 5:3
But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

It will remain somewhat incredible to me that any believer can read the Gospels and not understand that it is Satan and devils who are in all the above equations. Jesus directly engaged these 'other entities' IN MAN in so many places it's rather hard to miss. But misses obviously transpire. Is that BLIND? Ask yourself.

Who is the god of this world?

seriously now...

IT'S SATAN.

"...money is the answer for everything." (Ecclesiastes 10:19 NIV)

Very few people go around saying, "satan is my god." Instead they unknowingly worship him primarily through the false idol and god of money.

The thinking is, if you have money, you can have everything else you want in life. That's why money is perceived as the answer for everything. That's why mammon (money personified) is the 'god' that is worshiped as the source of all things for life and happiness by the people of the world.

"...greed, which is idolatry." (Colossians 3:5 NIV)

2Co 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

I just think in context of what Paul is writting, he is saying that satan has certain power to blind folks from the truth of the Gospel.

But who is the God of this world? And are you counting the chicks before they are hatched? (Heb. 11:1& 2 + verse 13's first part)
--Elijah

Re 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Here is another scripture on the topic.

God is the God of this world and Jesus is King. How could it be otherwise?

God is the God of this world and Jesus is King. How could it be otherwise?

Not yet, Christ inspired many scriptures that show that the Devil is currently god of this world and will be deposed at His second coming...

Rev 20:1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Rev 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Rev 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

I don't see how this doesn't mean that Jesus isn't currently reigning as king.

Joh 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.
Joh 12:32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself."
Joh 12:33 He said this to show by what kind of death he was going to die. (ESV)

Clearly then, Jesus's death and resurrection were the time when "the ruler of this world" would be "cast out." This is a reference, of course, to Satan. So if Satan was judged then and cast out as ruler, either no one is ruling or Jesus is King. But seeing has how there are many references throughout the NT to the Kingdom of God being here on earth now, I don't see how Jesus cannot currently be king.
