Why after all these number of years?

Take for instance a barren woman finally became pregnant and gave birth to a baby. Say, it happened after 15 years of barrenness.

My sister shared a testimony. It was about a barren lady who (barren for about 10yrs) became pregnant. The test gives a positive result.

I was glad when I heard it. But I quickly asked myself this question: why (after) all these number of years. God could have done it almost immediately after her wedding. God could have healed her fertility problems immediately after her wedding.

Some responces would be:
1. A test of her faith
2. God was saving her from something etc.

But why the delays???

I'll try to answer your question base on the assumption that God is all knowing, all powerful, and good. If those attributes are in question then it is necessary to back track but I assume we can both agree in those attributes of God since we both seem to be Christian. Let's say that God was waiting to test the lady's faith. What does that do? It does not prove anything to God because God already knew whether or not she would pass the test. If testing the lady's faith does not benefit God at all then it must benefit the lady herself, so the corollary is that God waited to heal the barren lady's fertility problem because that was what was best for the lady. That doesn't necessarily mean that God was saving the barren lady from something. Perhaps, God wanted to teach the barren lady something that only such an experience would teach her. Life is a process of becoming yourself and many times that is only possible through tribulation. Many times, we have to lose what means most to us because at that point we feel that we only have God left and when we come to that point we have everything.

This is brilliant. :wave (But it's really confusing that majority would have to go through the fire [figuratively speaking] before they get their wishes and desires)

When we are not receiving that which we desire from God then we need first to examine our self (usually our mouth and thoughts) and see if we are missing something that might be shutting down the blessings of God in our life. Even if we are truly saved we can still miss the mark at times. We are a people that want it and want it now, but Gods timing is always perfect and the blessing greater for us.
Example: Abraham and Sarah

I have friends who, after 16 years of praying, were blessed with their first child. They were the first to say that all happens in God's time, according to His will. And they gave Him all the praise for the special gift in their life.

I also have friends who decided to take a cruise to celebrate the fact that their 4 sons were either at university (working towards BA, MA, PhD) or already out in the work force (at age in upper 20s). About 8 months later, they were blessed with twin daughters. Again, they willingly acknowledged that all is done according to God's will and in His time.

It's all about God's will & God's timing for everything in our lives.

Perhaps that is one of the questions that you can ask God when you get to heaven. I am sure they learned patience while waiting. Ususally women get pregnant after they have given up and adopted a child.

Thank you all for your replys. God probably never likes telling us why He delays our miracle. In some cases He does - he tells you - and I know that. (...and no one would worry about delays - and no 'long-term' suffering...if you know His reasons).
