Why can't there be a perfect church

I suggest that the problem is one person trying to TELL another person what to believe. They then quote a bit of the Bible or some web-site etc to support their beliefs and get angry and/or insulting if anyone has the temerity to disagree or quote conflicting scripture or facts. That is my take on the root cause of the squabbling - rigid ideas and beliefs rather than recognizing that we can learn more every day of our lives.

Completely agree

The church is as perfect as it can get when it's being run by imperfect hunans.
No matter how much we ask God to take over and lead His church to perfection there's always the human factor, individuals disagreeing over theological side issues and so on.
But God can work with imperfect churches, too. We don't need to be perfect to gain His approval. Sometimes our imperfection and flaws is exactly what God uses to shine into our world.

I hope that this internet, this forum, educates rather than divides. It certainly reveals difference but we already knew that difference exists. There is, I believe, another issue being revealed that causes squabbling...

...Don't go. Try not to think of it as arguing, try to regard it as an education and/or educating others. If we are all better educated, there should be less petty difference - dare I call it bigotry? There are some really good people here and the idiot population is not very high. Don't let them force you out. :sad

Perhaps I've overreacted. I know most people here make substantive posts and mean well even if I may disagree. I certainly appreciate their zeal. Debating Christians is new to me and feels rather foreign. I've spent 7 years debating atheists and in the end it got really hostile. I guess I'm just afraid of having the same experience here and fueling some of my more carnal habits with regard to debate. I suppose I'm being a little over protective in a sense...It's a personal issue I have to deal with and I shouldn't have called out the forum. This is overall and edifying environment and I do appreciate it.

What do I mean by perfect church? I mean a church where everything is done accordingly, in a Godly or biblical 'manner'. We (our church) have our own weak points and the youth and visitors are complaining angrily. Certain things must be changed and be done in accordance with the today's 'world'. Certain cultures should change...............:..............Okay! I attended a different church last sunday. There communion method was strange. Also there band was bad. I was uncomfortable

There is one perfect church...not a building but the members and is scriptural...

Matthew 16:18 (KJV)
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

I will build my church.—The future tense is here used, which shows that at this time Jesus had not established his church. It was only in a preparatory stage, and was yet to be established.

This is the first instance of the use of the word "church" in the New Testament. The church as here referred to by Jesus as "my church" was not set up during the days of Abraham, neither during the days of John the Baptist, nor during the personal ministry of Jesus up to this point; he simply says now that "I will build my church."

What has been spoken of by Jesus as "the kingdom of heaven," "the kingdom of God," is here spoken of as "my church." "Church" is derived from the Greek "ekklasia" which is composed of the Greek preposition "ek," which means out, and "kaleo," which means to call or summons; hence "ekklasia" means called out or assembly. Here "my church" means the assembly or people who have been called out of the world by the gospel of Christ.
