Why is it considered controversial for a woman aged 18-25 to date someone above the age of 25, including someone over twice their age?

This is considered controversial? I didn't know that and I guess my parents didn't either. My mother was 20 and my father 31 when they were married. I've known quite a few married couples where one was at least 10 years older than the other.

I see a lot of posts on social media that men over 30 shouldn't date women younger than 25

Not interested in arguments from sinful human beings, whose brains never develop righteousness fully at all.

What does ‘rob the cradle’ mean?

The idiom rob the cradle means to have a romantic or sexual relationship with someone who is significantly younger than oneself. It conveys the idea of taking advantage or "robbing" someone of their youth or innocence.

Dunno. My wife was 25 and I was 45 when we married. Methinks any controversy would rightly be over whether both are believers...

One of their arguments is the brain doesn't develop fully until the age of 25
lol Whose arguments?

I would avoid social media like the enemy's weapon it is.

That is not how I have understood that phrase. The way I have understood it is when someone has a relationship with a minor.

Who's brain? The male or female? It has been my understanding that generally speaking, females mature earlier than males. I don't know how that conclusion is made though.

I remember having it said about Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis who was 39 years old when she married Aristotle Onassis, who was 62 at the time.

He would have been 23 years old when she was born.

In the USA men are on average 30.2 years old and women 28.4 years old at first marriage. And…

Averages don’t provide nuance. Looking at education level income level religious affiliation race and even location will help to see how old men and women are at various strata of society at first marriage.

Outliers attract comments and generate controversy at times. Social media is notorious for scathing cruel comments and behavior.

My husband and I have a running joke. When I was a senior in high school my husband was entering 1st grade. I am 12 years older than he is. As long as the person is considered a legal age and truly love each other I see no problem with age. But marrying someone older than you in years you have to consider the age difference when the other grows old and you are still young.
