  • Focus on the Family

    Strengthening families through biblical principles.

Focus on the Family addresses the use of biblical principles in parenting and marriage to strengthen the family.

Why is it so hard for people to believe the bible?

mother teresa, to my recollection, has a lot of vile stuff under her belt. mostly, the money that she collected went into the church, not to the poor of calcutta.
I'm going to challenge you to validate those remarks with proof. Right now you're using vague recollection and hearsay to condemn a woman who devoted her life to serving 'the least,' and who took her opportunity to speak at the UN as an opportunity not to be honored, but to confront. Her speech on abortion at the UN is legendary.

She has been under attack by the 'freethinkers' and atheists, the proponents of abortion and haters of Christianity. But anyone who has ever read her works on prayer know that this woman was the genuine article.

I read Christopher Hitchen's 'expose' on Mother Teresa. He is a brilliant man, but a sad shell and a vicious slanderer. His accusations against her were simply not substantive. I'll touch on one, just so that we needn't endure you posting it, Loren:
One of MT's American benefactors was the infamous Chrales Keating of the Savings and Loans scandals. MT has been roundly criticized for taking money from him.
Call this to mind: DLM Moody accepted money from Al Capone. He said that he was willing to take Satan's money to God's work.

Your microphone, Loren.

I would rather spend time with a thousand Catholics who actually show the love of God then someone who spends their time trying to show how right he is and makes such asinine statements as Catholics having never been used by God.
Sorry - I was generalizing - God can and has used anybody for his will. I should have been more clear. Many a Catholic has sought to do good and has done good for others and I'm not trying to knock the individual Catholic here - I was referring to the doctrine mainly - God can not use false doctrine when it is false and cannot use a bible when it is not a bible. And yes,, there is even some Bible within the modern versions. If they read as the KJV in the verse then it is scripture.

I seek not to go after the individual Catholic but the institution.

And by the way Lyric - don't you spend time trying to show how right you are? If it is ok for you then is it ok for me?

I'm not perfect by no means and am flawed in many areas of my Christian walk but I believe I am absolutely right regarding scriptural authority (KJV) and justification and I am not alone in this..

God bless

Well evidently you heard what you wanted to believe and latched on to it.
Your recollection isn't very good. Mother Teresa walked out of her convent in Calcutta with ABSOLUTELY nothing but the clothes on her back. In the end she had set up over 500 schools and hospitals for the poor through her organization. This ain't recollection, it's fact. Now if the Catholic Church getting the money means that the Catholic Church has it's name over a hospital or school then I suppose your statistics, though devious are accurate. The Catholic Church has more hospitals and schools than any other organization on earth so if it is not just about hoarding money.

But I own a parallel bible and there are still very little differences between them. The main difference I see is the difference between legalistic teachings and Grace.
Personally, I don't believe that the Bible ever teaches legalism.
By that I mean, that there is no one, in all the Bible, that has been saved by the Law.

The Biblical concept of Grace....came into existence....after the Law was broken by Adam and Eve.

The purpose of grace, is the God-given ability to keep the Law, which without grace...is impossible to do.

Romans 6:14-16 ...spells this out quite clearly.

Another interesting observation is the fact, that when Jesus Christ tells us to keep the Law...there is no outcry of 'Legalism'.
Why is that ?
