Bible Study Why Satan Approached Eve First

It is not about blame, it is about who is responsible. God made Adam responsible for both of them, so even if she was the only one who sinned, Adam is still responsible.

I don't think blame is necessary, just facts. I don't want to judge either one, I wasn't there. But then I don't think Eve was talking to a physical viper either.
I think it was a physical serpent. The snake is not the only instance in the Bible where an animal speaks.Wasn't there a donkey that spoke?

The reason I don't believe it was a literal snake has nothing to do with animals talking.

Eze 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
Eze 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
Eze 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

I don't believe our loving and merciful Father allowed an evil serpent into the Garden. He placed him there as the beautiful cherub, angel, to minister to man. The angel because of his jealousy of the position God had given man and his desire to be as and above God, saw his opportunity to deceive man and take his authority of dominion over the earth away from man and outwitting God. He couldn't outwit God. This was the iniquity that was found in him.

Yeah, I don't follow you at all. What does this scripture have to do with Eve being tempted by a serpent?

I don't think she was talking to a literal serpent as in reptile. I think she was talking to the cherub that God had placed in the Garden, the light bearer.
Were the Jewish leaders literal vipers, no but that is what Jesus called them.
In Revelation is the beast a literal beast with seven heads, no.
Just my thoughts.

Now you are mixing things up. If it was just a cherub in the garden, then why were they tempting Eve? No, it was an actual snake that Satan was speaking through.

When Jesus referred to the Jewish leaders as a "den of vipers" He was making a rather thinly veiled reference that they were followers of Satan, rather than the pious leaders they thought they were.

It is important to understand when something is literal and when it is metaphor. Understanding the context goes a long way toward this.

I am not following you either. Why would she be talking to a Cherub? That is an angel. :confused

Yes.

satan is an angel.

Kathi, I just said that I didn't believe that Eve was talking to a literal snake. You thought it was because I didn't believe in talking animals. I quoted the scripture that makes me think the satan was in the Garden in his true form of an angel. And that is when sin was found in him.

Yep, that was my point.

Satan is a fallen angel.A very different angel than the angels that are in heaven. You do know that there was a talking donkey in the Bible. The Bible says that Satan was disguised as a serpent.

I already explained that I don't have a problem with talking animals.
Yes satan is now fallen, I don't think he even has access to God's throne, you do.
I'll have to go back and read that, I don't remember the Bible actually saying that satan was disguised as a serpent. If it does than I wrong for sure. Do you know which scripture it is, that would saving me looking for it?

Genesis 3:14
So the Lord God said to the serpent:
“Because you have done this,
You are cursed more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you shall go,
And you shall eat dust
All the days of your life.

Adam was there with her, why didn't he just stop her? If your wife was about to put her hand in an asp's nest wouldn't you grab it back and then explain she was being deceived?

I sure would.

Are we putting too much blame on either one.It takes two.

Adam was accountable and knew very well what he was doing. Eve was deceived and made a huge mistake. I hear ya', it sounds kinda bad to lay too much blame either way, but Adam was the man and the spiritual leader of Eve, so like it or not, Adam is accountable.

I've thought of that before and it could be true...or it could be true that it was an actual serpent/snake that talked. Either way, it's sort of moot to the point of the passages which is, Eve was deceived and ate the fruit, and then Adam did too.
Not a big deal.

I know Eve was made from Adam's rib and Adam named Eve. But Adam ruling over Eve I believe was a result of the apple incident.

Genesis 3:16
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

I would love to keep looking at more scriptures but off topic too far. :wink

In this passage (it's always made me wonder) it says that the Lord will now multiply women's sorrow and conception, making me wonder if childbirth didn't used to be painful, perhaps it was even pleasurable? I don't know, probably moot but it does speak of it so it made me curious.

Genesis 3:1
Genesis 3:4
Revelation 12:9

Like I said we would have to start another thread.

Very moot, no children had been born yet. :wink I know you knew this. But sometimes we can get thinking about something and forget what we already know. I did that just the other day. :blush
