Bible Study Will People Be Saved During The Tribulation Period?

Revelation 6:9 "And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled."

I have, over the years, heard Evangelists say, "You better get saved now because when the Tribulation period comes, no one will be saved." You may have heard the same. These Evangelists, although wrong, were trying to urge people to be saved immediately.

The problem with these statements is, they are not true according to the Word of God. If not true, then the Holy Spirit is hindered from His power to convict the sinner. Truth of the Gospel and it's indwelling Truth is what the Holy Spirit chooses to use, not falsehood.

Within the makeup of the Churches of Jesus Christ, we have two types or classes of Believers in Christ Jesus. The Serious and not so serious. We've all seen this I believe. Those who are really involved in the leadership and exercising their gifts for the good of the Assembly, and those who are simply happy warming a pew.

There will be a rapture of the serious Believers before the start of the Tribulation....
Revelation 3:10 "Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown."

Having said that, what will happen to the "not so serious" Believers once the Serious Believers have been gathered to Christ Jesus in the clouds. I believe that those who are truly saved will realize that they've been in error. They will now get serious. The problem with this is, during the first half of the Tribulation period, it's not going to be easy....

Revelation 6:1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.
6:2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.
6:3 And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.
6:4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.
6:5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
6:6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.
6:7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.
6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

This is what the not so serious Believers will face during the first half of the Tribulation....The first seal, describes a false peace instituted by anti-Christ. (Mt. 24:4-5) The second seal depicts worldwide war. (Mt. 24:6-7) The third seal famine (Mt. 24:7) The fourth seal represents death by earthquakes & plagues. The fifth seal reveals the martyred (Mt. 24:9) who held on and were now serious of their relationship with Jesus the Son of God.

So, there will be folks saved during the first half of the Tribulation. They will face a time of peace, a time of war, a time of famine and a time of being martyred for their faith. Certainly a lot harder than if they had been serious prior to the Rapture.

This is what the Scriptures teach. Let the Word of God be true and every man in error.

Dear Brother Chopper, this is exactly my thoughts on Christians at this present time, and I will add that we are presently being judged by our Savior as He walks among the candlesticks, and we see that examination revealed as we read Revelation Chapters Two & Three.

I’ll just add a thought here you may want to consider as to saved men being in the time of great tribulation. (Ah I did it – I didn’t add the word “The” in front of “great tribulation,” nor did I capitalize the letter “G” in the word “Great.”)

Rev 7:13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?

Rev 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Rev 9:4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree (a reference to man); but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. (To have the seal of God they are saved.)

20:19, "When thou shalt besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an axe against them: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt not cut them down (for the tree of the field is man's life) to employ them in the siege:"

I have, over the years, heard Evangelists say, "You better get saved now because when the Tribulation period comes, no one will be saved."
What should have been added is "No one who has rejected the Gospel, rejected Christ, and rejected God's truth will be saved". That is exactly what Scripture teaches (2 Thess 2:10-12 KJB):

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

A very important lesson and a great illustration of my position on this.

Thank you old friend. The reference to Saints coming out of the "Great Tribulation" would be, IMO, the second half of the Tribulation called Jacob's Trouble. This is the period of time prophesied in the past about Israel being brought to their knees for refusing Christ Jesus as their Messiah. The 144,000 Jewish Evangelists plus the two witnesses will be the call to be saved.

This is such a terrible time that's it's a wonder anyone got saved. A few will, especially Israel.

What should have been added is "No one who has rejected the Gospel, rejected Christ, and rejected God's truth will be saved". That is exactly what Scripture teaches (2 Thess 2:10-12 KJB):

That is true my friend. My OP is not about the unsaved. It is about people saved during the 1st half of the Tribulation.

I wish to thank you who have responded to this thread already, I appreciate that. As an added not to the OP, there should be a warning as well to our local churches.

Now is the time for all Christians to wake up! I don't believe that the end of this present way of living will last much longer before Christ Jesus comes for His faithful followers. Those who are faithfully engaged in serving our Lord and not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ need to be watchful and ready to depart in the Rapture.

Some Believers are still sleepy and won't take heed to this warning. They will miss the Rapture and enter the first half of the Tribulation. As I have noted, there will be terrible persecution of all those who claim Jesus the Son of God to be their Savior and Lord. That testimony in front of a bloodthirsty crowd, in the absence of the Holy Spirit restraining their wicked assault on Christians, life will be much harder than now.

For your loved ones who are saved, this warning to them will be a blessing....Thank you.

Do you also believe the resurrection of the dead in Christ comes before the tribulation?

15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17

...that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
  • This event is called the coming of the Lord.
...we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
  • "them" are those who were resurrected.
...we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them...
  • those who are alive and remain will be caught up together with those who were resurrected.
  • The resurrected one and raptured ones are all gathered together to be with the Lord.
  • The resurrection/rapture is one event, in which the dead in Christ will be gathered together with those who are alive and remain, in which they are raptured because they have not died.

Everywhere the coming of the Lord is mentioned in scripture, it is a reference to Jesus coming at the resurrection/rapture.

This is called the Day of the Lord.

17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. 2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.
1 Thessalonians 4:17-5:2

Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. Revelation 3:10

Noah was kept from the flood.
Daniel was kept from the Lions.
The three Hebrew children were kept from the fire.

None of these were taken to heaven.

Here is an example of the Lord "keeping His people during the tribulation.

But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. Revelation 12:14

This language is the same language the scripture used when the Lord "kept" His people from the persecution of the devil through the Egyptians.

3 And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel: 4 ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. 5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. Exodus 19:3-5

The Lord "kept" His people from all the plagues that came upon the Egyptians, yet it did not harm them nor their livestock.

The point: No where in Revelation 3 is there any phrase or idea or language that indicates God will Rapture His people to heaven in order to "keep" them.

All the body of Christ will be gathered together at His coming.

No one will be left behind.

The Lord is coming from heaven to earth to gather His people and to destroy and remove the wicked, and reign and rule for 1000 years.

The Day of the lord will come as a thief in the night... for the wicked, but not for the Church.

And so many refuse to understand it has only been two days and He is not over due.

Do you have a scripture that shows us the resurrection of the dead in Christ is before the tribulation?

The coming of the Lord is when the resurrection occurs.

He is a scripture that shows us the coming of the Lord.

24 “But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; 25 the stars of heaven will fall, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. 26 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
27 And then He will send His angels, and gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest part of earth to the farthest part of heaven. Mark 13;24-27

At His coming, He will gather all His people in heaven and all His people on earth, together.

13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
The coming of the Lord and the gathering of His people comes after the tribulation.

JLB

Hi there my good friend JLB. You asked,
Do you also believe the resurrection of the dead in Christ comes before the tribulation?

And my answer is no.

I'll be honest JLB, my eschatological views have changed over the years as I have devoted more time studying Revelation. Probably yours has too. As of right now, I can give you what I see in the Scriptures.

1. There will be a silent, non verbal gathering of the Elect Bride of Jesus Christ before the Tribulation period begins. I use the word "gathered" because the word "rapture" is not a biblical word. 1 Thessalonians 2:1 uses gathered. Because of the earnest devotion to service to Jesus, He rewards His Bride with a gathering to Himself to escape the Tribulation....

Revelation 3:10 "Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation."which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Now, you know me well enough that I don't play with words like some do. These words are literal to me. They say that the church folk at Philadelphia had kept the Word of God, and hadn't denied His Name before persecutors, therefore Jesus' reward is to take them out of the messed up world just before all hell breaks out.

After that first gathering of the Elect Bride, there will be many church folk who will stay because they were like those five virgins who lacked the Holy Spirits conviction to be strong for our Lord Jesus. They will have to endure the first half of the Tribulation which won't be pretty, many will fall away from their confession.

Many of these folk who were victorious thru the terrible times of the first half of the Tribulation will go to be with the Lord at their death, probably martyrdom....

Many people have asked me, over the years, will those who die and go to be with the Lord have bodies? Please notice Verse 11. They had on white robes. You can't hang a robe on soul without a body. No one really knows what kind of a body we'll have before the general resurrection at the end of the thousand year reign of Jesus.

Any way, if I missed something, let me know and I'll try and answer it. And, thank you for your interest in this thread. I really appreciate your view on these matters. You're a good Teacher.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-17

The coming of the Lord and the gathering of His people comes after the tribulation.

The Pre-Tribulation Rapture position cannot be "proven"; however, it is implied by the structure of Revelation, the nature of Tribulation prophecy, and is supported by many scriptures. It is a consistent viewpoint which harmonizes many Bible passages.

The Pre-Tribulation Rapture position cannot be "proven";
In one sense it can be proven simply by reading the Parable of the Ten Virgins, which teaches that the Rapture is imminent.
Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. (Matthew 25:13).

I'm in no fashion for disproving what I believe in but I can apply that to all three positions.

Matthew 24:29-31,36,37; 1Corinthians 15:50-58; 1Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 6:9-11; Revelation Chapter 19

When you put all these scriptures together than you will see when we are caught up to meet Jesus in the air and come back to earth with Him and it will not be a secret quiet event as depicted in those Left Behind books as the last trump sounds and all whether in Christ or not will see Him come in all His glory. Here is one hint, we are those who are clothed in fine linen, clean and white.

I read that series and there was nothing secretive about their depiction of the Rapture and neither did they pretend to be scripture... I am left to ask, "What has this to do with the subject as portrayed in God's Word. I do see that this can cause a great deal of forbidden confusion among young and/or new Christians. (Matt. 18:6)

You continue to view the Rapture and the Second Coming as one event, even though the Bible clearly refutes that. At the Rapture Christ DOES NOT descend to earth. The Bible tells us that the saints meet the Lord "in the air", and it is implied that they continue on to proceed to Heaven ("so shall we ever be with the Lord"). Why? Because there are two events which must occur in Heaven BEFORE Christ descends to earth with His saints and angels bringing wrath and judgement upon His enemies. In the interim the Day of the Lord brings God's vengeance and wrath upon the whole world.

Those two events are (1) the judgement of believers at the Judgement Seat of Christ and (2) the Marriage of the Lamb. It is only after the Marriage of the Lamb that Christ descends to earth as revealed in Revelation 19, which also describes the battle of Armageddon, and the utter destruction of all Christ's enemies gathered around Jerusalem.

Hi Glory Girl. One of the most wonderful elements of a true Christian love for each other is, you and I can disagree and still love each other. If there is anything of worth that I've learned over the many years of studying "end times" it's that new Revelation comes to my mind/heart as I re-study the Book of Revelation. Old theology is replaced with new understanding as the Spirit of God instructs.

I know from previous posts of yours that you don't believe in a pre-trib rapture of the Bride of Christ. This is why I do believe in it. There has always been a "remnant" of special Believers who are careful, faithful followers of YHWH. Abraham was perhaps the first. Thru out Israel's history they march forward as God's instruments of His will. Noah, Jeremiah and other Prophets of the Old Covenant.

In the New Covenant we have the Disciples who became the Apostles, and so on. These are God's Elect Remnant thru out the history of the church age. These people are very special to the Lord Jesus. They are treated different from the rest of Believers. Their reward for their faithfulness is to escape the entire Tribulation period. I have, in past threads, explained and shown Scripture to back up my claims of the Rapture.

I believe that the Scriptures that you posted are "The Day of the Lord" which comes after the preliminary suffering of the Saints who were left behind in the Rapture. Up to Revelation 6, we have these accounts. After Rev. 6, we have the "Day of the Lord" the second half of the Tribulation and your Scriptures are right on!

As they say, we can agree to disagree. I certainly appreciate your studies. Many Christians don't spend the time in thought and research that you do. Bravo, that's why I love you Sister, keep it up.
