I must be missing something. I am not suggesting a debate, I am only testing what my heart tells me.
If you could just show one example of a non-believer being healed by Jesus? Or by apostles, or by disciples?
Thanks.
Mark 1
23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,
24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.
26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.
27
And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.
28 And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.
The man in verse 23 didn't have faith in Jesus because as we can see in verse 27, what these people were witnessing was something totally new. They were hearing a doctrine they had never heard before.
When we move down to verse 34 we see this.
Mark 1
34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.
Jesus wouldn't let the devils speak because they knew who He was and no one else did. The people that came to be healed, came because of the signs they had witnessed, not because they had faith in Jesus. They didn't even know who Jesus was.
Here's a passage from John.
John 6
1 After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.
2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.
3 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.
Again we see that it was because of the miracles that they followed Him.
All the people healed in the beginning of Jesus' ministry were basically nonbelievers. Even His disciples had no idea who He was when He first chose them. So faith played no part in their decision to follow Him.
I hope this clears things up a bit.
