Withstanding The Attacks Of The Enemy, And Proving Victorious

maxresdefault-5-1.jpg

The above image is from the movie The Passion, and was a depiction of Satan as he was watching Christ suffer in the Garden of Gethsemane. Scripture says our Lord endured spiritual attacks that were so severe He was literally sweating great drops of blood (Luke 22:44), and despaired unto death.

37 He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. 38 Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.” 39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” (Matthew 26:37-39)

Have you ever endured spiritual attacks that brought on immense depression? I was in a situation recently where I was suffering great emotional distress, and it just seemed to be increasing and increasing until I was starting to despair of life. One night I found myself out walking and praying, and I asked the Lord, "How could you do this to me? I have devoted my entire life to You. I feel like my whole life is cursed now." A few minutes later I heard Him say to me, "Your life is cursed, but not by me," and suddenly I understood what had been going on all along. Someone had been using witchcraft on me to bring me into emotional despair, and then the pieces suddenly all fit together.

Roughly a week earlier, someone had joined my personal forum, professing to be a type "super Christian." He claimed Satan was immensely powerful (went to great lengths to explain this twice), and that he could not keep demons from inhabiting his body. But he was nevertheless giving me unsolicited advice on "binding the strongman" over nations. He then began warning me about what I would be getting myself into if I tried it, though I had expressed zero interest. I eventually realized it was all code, and that what he was really doing was informing me that he served Satan, was inhabited by demons, and was using witchcraft on me. These "warnings" were coming from a complete stranger, who didn't even bother to ask me anything about my circumstances.

I must warn you, have humility and fear of Lord in you... This one is a powerful spirit (adversary) and you do not know what was coming to you till it hit you - Satan always creates circumstances that will distract you from Christ and Spiritual Warfare when you hit the spot with his works. He bends our perception in unimaginable ways. Make solid confession and some barriers should be broken. I would have never expected how many of the unclean spirits/demons can be sent to you, but they are, so we ourselves need to do confessions and receive deliverance for ourselves on daily basis almost. It would be best that more Christians start becoming aware and take interest in spiritual warfare... I am almost sure there must have been some kind of unpleasantnesses in your life after our discussion. It means we hit the spot and are on the right track - Tomek

The translation for those last two sentences was in reality: "If you have experienced unpleasantness in your life then we have hit the right spot, and our witchcraft is working on you. I hope you are praying to your God."

I asked a friend what he thought about those statements, and he said the same thing; that it read like a threat. So he offered to seek the Lord for a word about it on whether the man was legit or not. He came back a little later on with the following:

I prayed about the spirit in Tomexor. I saw a head shaking "No." I saw fangs like that of a predator, and I saw a skull. And in the middle of praying I lost sense of where I was, almost like falling asleep, but suddenly swung my arm really violently like slamming a door shut, or throwing something away. I don't know where that came from, but it woke me up.

I determined to wait for an additional confirmation before acting, but after hearing the Lord speak to me while in prayer, I knew beyond doubt what was going on. I had been having significant trouble in my marriage, and we seemed to be constantly at odds with each other, fighting over strange flukes that kept on creating misunderstandings. Once I knew where it was coming from, the jig was up. Satan had been exposed, and I wouldn't be falling for the same tricks anymore.

So what happens with those who perpetrate evils upon you in an attempt to destroy your life? Well, curses can be reversed upon the perpetrator if they push their luck too often. So one way or another, people who serve the darkness can end up reaping what they have sown if they are not careful. For me and mine, we continue on in the work that God has called us to, and nothing hinders it.

Blessings in Christ,

I think he believes you are referring to literal karma

Well good morning, and welcome to ChristianForums.net! LoL. :thumbsup

Yes, I'm pretty sure he does : )

follower. When taken literally, karma refers to the Indian concept that a person's actions and intentions have consequences which in turn influence their future. I was actually just referring to the Biblical concept of a person reaping what they sow, which is mentioned in Galatians 6 where it states:

7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Guardian Angel. Thank you for the heads up. I suppose I needed to clarify myself a little. :thumbsup:thumbsup

Interesting! It is *your relationship with the Lord* that stands against any external threats or "advice." Outside prophesies should only confirm what you know by your own relationshiip with God, and should not direct you from outside of your own spiritual guidance.

It may be that God is teaching you to be more dependent on your own relationship with God, learning to recognize God's word to your heart better, shutting off those who would manipulate you? You stand or fall on your own word from God. Openness to the word others bring to you is admirable, but should always be scrutinized for ego and for manipulation.

God is always love. Too much information confuses this. God does let us go through deep waters and intense darkness, at times. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. Holding on to your own faith is what wins the battle--not trust in those who claim to have "the answer to everything."

Yes. I've heard this said many times and always agreed with it. Now sometimes a word can be too advanced for what we are ready to receive yet, but this still should not override the internal witness of the believer. When they are ready they will see it.

But where it really comes into play is in places like this, where the Devil is speaking and not God. He whispered in the Lord's ear as well, and when Christ Jesus our Lord would not succumb to temptation, he turned back into His worst and most sincere enemy. Developing an ability to hear His Voice is the most crucial thing of all.

Thank you, brother. We should get to know one another. I appreciate receiving good word's like this. :thm

True. Jonah received a word that he was not yet "mature enough" or "ready enough" to receive. It did not confirm the word already given so much as simply "break through his comfort zone." We have to be willing to receive words from God we simply don't want to hear!

When I moved to S. CA many years ago, and innocently joined a Christian group that I now consider a cult, it was one of the most difficult to discern. There's a bit to the story.

I had been a great fan of Watchman Nee, and being in a sort of despair I considered moving out of WA State to change my environment. I felt God say "Yes" and I instantly told a friend of mine. I set off to sell my house and I immediately ran into a friend who agreed to buy it.

When I got to Anaheim, CA I looked up Witness Lee's group, who was headquartered there. I had told friends, before leaving WA State, that I intended to look up this group. And they sternly warned me not to have anything to do with them, and gave me a tract sponsored by Walter Martin's group, CRI, and written by Bob and Gretchen Passantino.

I had written Martin a 10 page response, defending Witness Lee, not knowing much about Walter Martin and CRI. And so I had gone to S. CA on my motorcycle with little else on me.

When I got to where I was going, I couldn't find Witness Lee's group--there was no GSI back then. I found Melodyland Christian Center, where I later attended and where Walter Martin taught a Bible class. From that church I called Witness Lee's book distribution address and asked them if they were the "Local Church." They promptly hung up on me, because I didn't know that the name "Local Church" was used as a name of derision by outside groups.

But I later found Witness Lee's group, moved in with one of the elders, and actually sat in on a meal with Witness Lee in our home. Later, after devouring book after book and feeling unsatisfied, I asked my host--what is it about this Church that makes it different from others? He slyly suggested, "You'll find out!"

Not long after, while attending a Bible study I heard the leader declare that other churches were inferior to their Church, that they were the "Lord's Recovery." I instantly declared them a cult, and later that night had a dream where 2 demons were trying to kill me.

A couple of years ago my daughter's friend I learned was in this Christian cult. And I contacted Gretchen Passantino, who had written the tract warning me about it. She was interested in discussing it, but said she and Hank Hanegraaf had changed their minds and now considered them doctrinally orthodox!

Later, I tried to contact Gretchen and no longer heard from her. So I looked her up on the internet to see if she was busy doing something, and discovered that she had suddenly died!

All this to say that information can be so confusing! We simply have to stay in prayer and not listen to people more than to God Himself. This may be a discouraging note, but it's our job to obey, and believe in the wisdom of God. Later we will know more.

And it's in the right thread, isn't it. We have an enemy that is not always to be simply taken for granted.

I was working with a sister not many years ago who had been specifically chosen by God to work in dream ministry with me. Very dear sister, and not only prolific in the extreme when it came to receiving, but with a near-photographic memory and her own extensive filing system. Just the perfect ministry partner. But then the enemy found out about her (likely the same bunch messaging me as "Tomexor"), and she started coming under heavy attack. Started seeing demons visibly manifesting in her room, and I think the same fears and "sorrow unto death" as a result of great spiritual oppression came upon her as well. In fact, I received a dream from a friend just a few days ago that suggests she is still suffering from the effects of those attacks years later.

I'm praying for that sister, cuz you never wanna see the enemy get victory over a precious servant of God like that. But we do have to account for the fact that we are not playing tiddly winks in this business. We are up against a very real enemy who will try and take people out. I've been working with another one more recently, and he's attempting to do the same thing. Time will tell if she can stand or not, but you don't give up hope in others even when they can't. You just pray for them that they get stronger, and are better able to handle the enemy the next time.

Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

What many are missing is the word "shall" in Matthew 24:13 as it's expressed as a future tense that indicates a promise.

For by grace, as it's only Gods favor extended to all who will receive it by faith, is a free gift as we become His workmanship created in Christ unto good works that God ordained that we should continue walking in the good works of Christ, Ephesians 2:8; Matthew 25:31-40. We can not earn our salvation by our own works nor do we even deserve Gods grace, Genesis 6:6-8. Only by a mustard seed of faith do we come to Christ and repent of our sins are we then only washed clean by the blood of Christ and become Spiritually reborn again (not saved) through the Spiritual rebirth of John 3:3-6 by that of Romans 10:9,10.

Matthew 24:13 says that those who endure until the end shall be saved. This means enduring all the trials and tribulations that this world will bring against us for the sake of our witness and testimony of Christ, Acts 14:22, Rev 2:10. The end means the end of our days here on this present earth when those in the grave and we who are still alive at His coming will then be caught up to Christ and are saved at that time as we have endured all things and never gave up our faith in Christ.

God's word never said we would not go through trials or tribulations, but through many trials and tribulations if we endure until the end then we will see the Kingdom of God, Acts 14:22, as we are all called into discipleship as we share our witness and testimony with those who have not yet repented and turned back to God. Below are twenty reasons why God allows us to go through trials and tribulations so that we will always remain in His will.

Why God allows us to go through trials and tribulations:
1. Training as God prepares us for the future
2. Patience as we rely and trust in God's timing
3. Perseverance through trials that we remain in Gods will
4. Trust as God's ways are not our ways and He has a better plan for us
5. To learn from our mistakes
6. To humble ourselves before Him
7. To discipline us
8. Teach us to be dependent on Him alone
9. To spend quiet time with God so He can speak to us
10. To teach us of His protection
11. That we also share in the sufferings of Christ that we be not ashamed
12. Strengthen us to become more like Christ
13. To develop character
14. Build up our faith in the Lord
15. For a testimony and witness to help others
16. To show us sin in our lives that we need to own up to having
17. To remind us that God is in control
18. Helps us gain knowledge and understanding God's word
19. Teaches us to be thankful
20. To take our mind off the things of the world and put them back on God

Satan's attacks are very real that can cause us to be sick, depressed and our anxiety levels can go through the roof. Satan will also put thoughts of suicide in our heads as he has done to me in the past. But, if we are seeking and growing our relationship with Christ we then learn to put on the whole armour of God as we stand against his devises, Ephesians 6:10-20.

What made it doubly difficult is the fact that those friends who warned me not to move to S. CA to join Witness Lee's group were themselves pretty unstable--somewhat long-standing Christians but a bit unstable. The woman saw herself as a prophetess and seemed to explore each new "move of God," which sometimes turned out to be a weird cult, eg Church of the Living Word. Her husband seemed to completely defer to his "prophetess"-wife, and seemed preoccupied with his "poetry" and ego.

So how could I receive a word from these ex-Mormon friends, now Charismatic, who themselves made regular errors? Not only so, but today, decades later, the couple have divorced. The brother went off into an grossly immoral lifestyle, and the sister ended up greatly diminished.

Still, the sister and brother both had accurately warned me of this cultic Church, and I do appreciate that they did that! Discerning God's word is just as important as discerning the value of those who are sharing God's word with you!

Yes, I could write a book on all of the casualties of this Spiritual War. We really do need to watch out for one another!

Very good! The reason I share both the good and the evil in our lives is precisely so that we face the real world, and are not overtaken by unexpected troubles. If we expect them to come, we can deal with them better.

But it is equally important to know God in all of this trouble. He is greater, and He is love. Thanks much! :)

Satan's attacks are very real that can cause us to be sick, depressed and our anxiety levels can go through the roof.

Yes, and excellent post. This is what happened to that sister I was describing in Post #10. She already had issues with anxiety when I first met her, and she got so much better once she settled into ministry with me and saw she was being used of God. But when the attacks came, all her old anxieties resurfaced and worse than ever.
Satan will also put thoughts of suicide in our heads as he has done to me in the past. But, if we are seeking and growing our relationship with Christ we then learn to put on the whole armour of God as we stand against his devises, Ephesians 6:10-20.

Me has well. It has been quite a long time, but the burden I felt over my calling for many years was exceedingly strong, and it was hard to tell anyone cuz I hadn't entered into my ministry yet, so how could they understand when they could see no evidence? But they disappeared a good seven plus years back completely. Only during this last incident... I felt a tinge again. I was like, "Oh no... not this again. I thought I was done with suicidal thoughts." But it was only a tinge, and I'm happy to say I have completely broken that heavy spirit off of me now, and I mean completely. Turned from absolute night to day, which is all the more evidence to me it was an attack.

Her husband seemed to completely defer to his "prophetess"-wife

Big mistake.

Isn't that something! I find it so amazing that God can be using us one minute, and then a few weeks or months later we fall, and fall hard, sometimes all the way to the ground.

Terrible shame, but you take it as a lesson and a warning, because it can happen to any of us. If there are weaknesses there, the enemy will exploit them, and you will find out what you are made of.

Yes, it's actually made me much more compassionate, as well as thankful that God is so patient with us! Those who fall God is able to raise up again, as he certainly has me...

Well feel free to share others here, because while I thought this thread might not get much play, it appears to resonate more than I thought it would. And if that's the case it needs to be brought to light instead of swept under the rug like Satan would likely want it to. Always hiding, and never wanting his works to be revealed for what they are. It's why I wrote this thread, because I decided he wasn't getting away with it without being exposed for the evils he practices.

Regardless it is something by name, of origin not from heaven , not from God, but earthly and carnal religion(s).

I don’t think one should be quick to be critical of everything other people say, especially on the Christian Forums. It is why I have stayed away from them. I am willing to try this one, but condemning others for the slightest things is what turns people off.
