WOMEN PASTORS

To preach from the pulpit is not the hope, not glory, Christ in me is the Hope of glory...

If it's not the hope and not the glory, then why such a misogynistic attitude about allowing a woman to serve God if He so calls her?

Would it matter if the bride had been the pastor? She would still have been abused.

Apparently, mankind think that's all women are for.

I'm grateful to have the heart of a Father who thinks more of me than that, though.

Sure, I can be the President of the United States and have the highest authority in the kingdom of Satan, but dare I desire to preach the gospel as a lowly, unpaid servant of the Lord. Well, apparently I should just let that go.

(I have no desire to preach from the pulpit or shepherd the flock, btw.)

Hi all!

Didn't abandon the thread...been in the hospital the past two days (I have a AICD and the set screw had come loose...*errkkk**).

Anyway, a couple of things I'd like to get back too...but reckon it'll have to wait 'till tomorrow...:p

Seems to me you paint that ugliness with a very broad brush. You have said that a few times a few ways in this thread. Not all men are ugly, many, many more than not are in the image of our Father.

Christ in us is the hope of glory as you well know. I do believe this can only be an ongoing battle between us. I hope i can hold to my word and this be the last i say to you on the subject... The attitude? Tis not attitude ... when i was about 10 i cleared the chicken coop made pews and had CHURCH! It is my view the Word of God.(scriptures have been posted) I am sure you feel the same.

In the light of some things , Cornelius and our sister in Japan, this friendly battle from me to you on this topic is done.

God loves us gals so very much he allowed us the be ark for His Son.

This a profound and beautiful statement.

Mcgyver, you're the first person I've ever met that made it medically official that he has a "screw loose"! :lol Hope all is well with you!

I'll remember not to open my mouth tomorrow at church, for I'll be breaking the Law of God if I do.

1 Corinthians 14:36 (KJV)
What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?

Let it go? We are living in the the End Times when evil has never been more open, and you want the Bride of Christ to let it go?

Acts 2:17 (NIV)
In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.

Have you ever read "Tortured for Christ" ? In it Richard Wurmbrand gives an account of a bold Christian girl spreading the gospel in Communist Romania, and how on her wedding day, the secret police came to her church and led her away in handcuffs off to prison. She arrived in prison still in her wedding dress. Wurmbrand ended that story with the chilling line of "We all know what happens to Christian women in prisons."

So this woman was raped repeatedly at the hands of monsters for the sake of her Beloved Bridegroom, and you honestly think her Beloved Bridegroom is going to turn around and say: "Listen, you can be raped and tortured for My Name's Sake, but sorry, I can't let you preach from the pulpit on Sundays."

The audacity!

No matter what anyone says about women in the Church. No one can escape the heart of God poured out in this verse:

Galatians 3:28 (NIV)
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
So really you think same sex marriages are OK? :screwloose

Well, when you consider that I used to jump out of airplanes for a living.....

You KNOW that I can't be "wrapped too tight"! :lol

And thanks...I'm sore, but well! :D

It depends on what you are willing to do. I work out at a gym and I have always just went natural, others use things that are actually illegal, it depends on how much you are willing to compromise your integrity in order to get what you want out of something. I read what God through Paul has said about male authority in the church and I just accept it as the will of God and let it go, others are willing to compromise their integrity by denying the scriptures in this area in order to get what they want , I would be terrified to do that because we will be judged one day by how truthful we were with the revealed word of God. To those who believe the risk is worth it then do your thing,my job is to point out by quoting in context scripture, what God has said, the rest is a personal choice.

Remember what happened when Peter insisted on his way? Even though Peter had good intentions yet Jesus plainly told him that he either did it Gods way or else he was out. It is a serious thing to insist that God change to suit our ideas.

Based on Paul's epistle to the church in Corinthe how would one handle this scenario:

A family of five move into a new area, in the town their three children attend college. The husband, George, grew up unchurched and never understood why people believed in something they could not see. He saw it as a waste of time for him, and perhaps a cultural obligation for others. When he and his wife, Grace, married she was a common woman about town, woman of the world. After her first child is born she surrenders her life and will to Christ, is indwelled by the Spirit, and longsuffering while on fire for Jesus she matures in spirit. At this point her 3 children George Jr. (age 19), the twins David and Abigail (age 18) have grown up in church, but just recently felt a burning desire to seek and delight themselves in the Kingdom of God.

A month before relocating, seeing a change in the lives of his children and recalling the transformation in Grace's life, George surrenders his life and will to Christ, answering the prayers of his wife and children.

George and Grace's kids are very popular at the college and always have a full house. As a result many of their friends surrender to Christ, experience the new birth, and in essence are babes in Christ.

George and Nancy love having all the kids at the house and their evening fellowship has grown into
an assembly of young new believers and unsaved seekers. Nancy is by far the most spiritually mature child of God among this fellowship of saints. Should she be allowed to be an elder among this assembly of saints?

Yes, and it seems no one is wiling? or able? to address it. Just like no one is willing? or able? to address Theo's questions, and Truth Over Traditions comments? Interesting... :chin

No, problem! I'm not addressing my comments specifically to you, but everyone on the anti-women having positions in the Church side.

The Scriptures aren't clear on this issue. The Scriptures say that a believing spouse can sanctify both the unbelieving spouse and their children. Yet, we both know that only the Blood of Christ can sanctify. If we took that verse on the surface level it literally cancels out Christ's work on the Cross. Just like the verse that speaks about women being saved through child-bearing. Again, we know that only the Blood of Christ can save, so if we took that verse on the surface level it would nullify the work of Christ on the Cross. Yet, Church tradition is doing this with these verses about women's role in the Church and nobody flinches!

It's interesting that many are claiming, "The Word of God says so!" and yet, the strongest backing to the argument that women have no place in the Church comes solely from misogynistic Church tradition.

Where is the fear of God over making the oral traditions of men, like the pharisees did, the actual laws of God. I am terrified at the thought of doing this!

;)

No where did anybody state women have no place in the church. It’s all perception I guess. Once one stands firm on what the Word of God clearly states, then, we are perceived to have said such. Perception is not truth.

I am willing and able to answer Theo’s question. From what I have experienced in 25 years of the ministry, if the person holding the offices as stated are no longer able to fill those requirements, then YES, they should step down. I have seen 2 Deacons and 1 Pastor step down from their offices on their own choice because they no longer fill the requirements as stated in 1 Timothy. One of those was for an unruly child, while the other two had to do with their marriages.

Now, in all instances, they were not asked to step down, but as I said, they made this choice themselves. It was not an “instant” decision and we had several months of prayer and fasting for the situations to change. When the issues did not change, the men made the hard decision to step down. They were indeed Godly men who knew what the Word of God stated about the matter.

Now let’s get into Theo’s harder question:
“What if the pastor's wife dies, does he have to resign, since he no longer fulfills the requirement of having one wife?”

This is indeed a tough one unless you read it in the Greek. When this is done, you will see there is neither such a word as Husband or Wife. The words used are ‘anēr’(man) and ‘gunē’ (woman). The Greek really reads it as a ‘one woman man’. IMO this is talking about sexual purity and conjugal fidelity and so long as the Pastor fits this requirement, he would be able to continue to serve.

To answer Theo’s other point:
“Some here have used I Tim. 3 and Tit. 1 to support their views. If I am understanding correctly, their reasoning is that since they are required to have wives, and women can't have wives, then pastors have to be men (someone please correct me if I've misunderstood).”

It is not so much the thought of women can’t have wives, but the fact the word Paul used is ‘anēr’, which means an ‘adult male’. Simple as that.

I would also like to address the fact several post have included the following scripture:
Acts 2:17 in the KJV states: 17And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

I see nothing in the above scripture that states women are to hold offices as stated in 1 Timothy 3. What I do see is that they will prophesy. Now, to open another ‘can of worms’, I will suggest that we may not be living in the “last days” as it is depicted in this scripture. Maybe a further study is needed on this subject as well? Somewhere in your study you should come to Mathew 9: 14-17.

Now, how about an answer to my question that has been ignored as well? Why did Paul , in 1 Timothy 3, use the Greek word for adult male ‘anēr’ instead of using ‘anthrōpos’ which means it could be a male or female and not gender specific?

In contast to your statement copied above, I didnt say there were any such posts.

I did though infer, that you apply the same passage the same way some queer-marriage people do.
