Women shouldn't need men...

With arms like that, she wouldn't need help plowing the field to plant it. Heck, she could probably skip vines and go straight for trees.

I think in the passage there isn't any indication that the Proverbs 31 women received any help doing it, either. Like, she did it by herself, it would seem.

This is just a thread for disgruntled men to pick fun at feminists. I'm not even a feminists but it's pretty obvious to me that this is a joke thread.

Uh oh did the one word op give us away?;) Farouk was serious for a second. We can talk about bodybuilding.

This picture goes with that better

Wow that is SO wrong! :o

I think it is a somewhat lighthearted thread that sadly reflects a growing discourse in wider society :gah

Pigeon88: I guess some of us are trying to be seriously respectful about women.

Blessings.

N: Do you really think so? At any rate, the Proverbs 31 woman strengthened her arms and was involved in rigorous outdoor activity (as well as domestic).

Blessings.
I wasn't saying it's necessarily sinful, and there may be circumstances that mean a woman might need to get buff like a man would, but consider the natural body build of a man vs woman.

Consider 1 Peter 3:7 (ESV)
Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you[a] of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

Woman the "weaker vessel".

So:
Do you really think so?
Yes, but not as a legalistic rule, but think about what seems to be the natural created order.

Well, guys, I wouldn't argue that the woman of Proverbs 31, who strengthened her arms, was somehow out of order, or something.

Nick: you make a valid point to some extent, although I wouldn't go so far as suggesting that cultivating weakness is something that God expects women to aim at.

As for bodybuilding supposedly not being feminine, I think that for instance in competitive bodybuilding it's often part of the expected routine for women participants to be in platform heels: which kind of tells me they are hardly ignoring or denying being feminine.

idk; I guess it can be looked at from various aspects, but I don't particularly see a denial of being feminine, either in bodybuilding, or in the Proverbs 31 account.

Blessings.

C: Simply, a woman having strength in her arms need not be regarded as a bad idea.
It's totally a good idea - and a blessing from God. Just that most guys would consider that strage. There are extreme cases where the man may not find them attractive (sexually).

C: Oh I don't want to get into that at all.

I guess what I meant was that since the Proverbs 31 lady strengthened her arms and did outdoor work, it's a positive thing, anyway.

PS: C: If you're just referring more generally to femininity, I guess what was mentioned to Nick might be relevant: in bodybuilding competitions it seems an expected thing for female contestants to wear platform heels, which would hardly be regarded as a denial of femininity. I guess the idea is that the look can be both strong and graceful, or whatever.
