Working for the devil.

Some people volutarily choose serving the devil - and working for him. Some others inadvertently are working for him and are being used by him.

Is there a way to know when we are being used by the devil?

There are some people who think they are working for God. From their belly they believe they are doing it for God whereas they have already been misled by the devil.

There are many examples of this situation in the bible and in the world today. I will take just one:

Mathew 16 NKJV

22 Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!â€
23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.â€

Peter was earnestly battling to stop Christ from dying.

There was only god in that! your salvation relied on judas betraying Jesus. Unfortunately for Judas he got caught up in the middle of something bigger than himself.

As personal thought not anything anyone has told me.

Why on earth would the devil want Jesus handed over and crucified and spoil all his fun.

A couple of days after that he got his sorted out by Jesus in a big way. I couldn't imagine him wanting to put that in motion. But you never know how smart he was at the time. Maybe he didn't know.

I used these in a thread the other day too.

Lamentations ch 3

37 Who can speak and have it happen
if the Lord has not decreed it?
38 Is it not from the mouth of the Most High
that both calamities and good things come?
39
Why should the living complain
when punished for their sins?

It isn't always the devil making bad stuff happen God orchestrates everything in this world.

I heard this in a sermon at church 2 weeks ago- a guy from the USA came over to speak to us.

James ch 4

7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

If your praying to god and trying to do his work... The bible says he wont hang around.

I do know what you mean though about wondering about what people are up to. you do wonder sometimes and i dont blame you.

In my case when i wonder things like that about people i put it down to my superstitions my faithlessness in trusting in god and also my suspicious nature. I so need to just trust god more!

nah its not! theres just no tricking some people..

The other thing about the devil. Why would Jesus or the father tell the enemy anything? Jesus himself didn't know stuff the father does. Jesus said he didn't know when the rapture will be.

that verse is called a merism. it means god allows evil but does good.

satan is used by god to judge and also work out things for his will.

Ah Peter . . . yes, BUT! Was Peter immediately corrected by the Lord? Or was his deception allowed to take root?

To God be the glory for the things He (is doing and) has done!
