" I am a 3rd grade teacher at Boston Renaissance Public Charter School in Hyde Park, MA. Our classroom has incorporated the Kindness Rock Project into our curriculum and is continuing to do so!
Our class recently work on a Community Out-Reach Project in which the students created their own Kindness rocks to share. We took walking field trips to deliver these rocks to places like the local supermarket, Post Office, Police Station, Elderly Home and Fire Station. In addition we incorporated this project into our Writing curriculum by having each student create a Kindness goal for themselves. To take this project even further we presented our work to other third grade classrooms to celebrate Kindness! My third grade students even made enough Kindness rocks to share with the other third grade students as well.
A tradition I have started in our classroom is what I call "Kindness Rocks Friday". This is a time to celebrate a student who has show Kindness throughout the week by honoring them with their very own Kindness Rock... which to a 9 year feels like a million dollars! This simple tradition promotes such a positive classroom atmosphere.
On a personal note The Kindness Rocks Project has not only inspired me as an educator but as an artist as well. I fell in LOVE with the process of painting these amazing messages on rocks. It even gave me the courage to begin my own social media page to start to share my artwork with the world!
I can't say enough how much the Kindness Rock Project has positively impacted my life. I know my students would say the same!
