Just a correction: multiplication comes before division only if it appears first, the same with addition and subtraction. Multiplication and division are done left to right, before addition and subtraction, and then addition and subtraction are done left to right. We could use parens for clarity, ie. -(2/2) x 2 or -[2/(2x2)]
My Dear Aunt Sally rules apply:
Multiplication before Division, both before Addition then Subtraction.
the first multiplication is 2(2) = 4
the second multiplication is 2x2 which also equals 4
then comes the division
2/(2x2) = 2/4 = 1/2
As stated: (2)2+2-2/2x2 = [(2)2] + 2 -2/[2 x 2] = 4 + 2 -[2/4] = 6 - 1/2 = 5.5 or (d.) none of the above.
So the correct order of operations gives: 4+2-1*2=4.
