Your first true love

I agree. hey waitaminute...check me on this, I just had a thought.

How can a man love a woman, without loving all women somewhat? I don't think he can.

Yeah, temptation and so forth.

Well, you could...but it would be lacking in class. I think that Kevin waiting on his soulmate shows an incredible amount of faith and patience. You'll probably be rewarded for that.
And "so forth"? :lol Please share.

Thank you, Edward! I sure hope so. Not easy being in love with someone you've never met.

Well, temptation period. One has to be careful when they're married and commited because the underlying man/woman attraction and question will always be there. No matter what. People try to think that they can "just be friends" without any biological attraction being there, and it may not be, or to a dangerous degree at first, but it grows.

And people who say, well this is my friend of the opposite sex, and we've known each other most of our lives, so you have to accept this...No you don't. You're married now and that is a dangerous situation.

Not that it isn't possible to be platonic friends...but it isn't likely in most cases. And if the married couple can not comprehend this and show reverence and respect for the marriage...then it's likely they're lying anyway! :yes

I hear you. When I first was divorced by my first husband we had a lot of married couple friends. They deserted me.The women did not want me anywhere near their husband.I have heard of Christian couples who are not married say "Oh but we only live in the same house it is totally innocent. He is like a brother to me.A red flag goes up when I hear this.

I hear you. I think that to think that one can turn that off (the power of attraction) is like saying, I don't think I will let gravity affect me today, lol.

It is possible to remain loyal in heart and deed. But it does take a conscious effort. It's easier if both parties have set their heart to the same goal of remaining platonic. But if one has the secret attraction or agenda, they can make trouble for the situation without ever speaking a word or behaving promiscuously. It's all about setting the heart and spirit to focus upon their intent and sending the subliminal messages. it's almost a telepathic thing. I've had this happen to me. One can resist this too, but you have to be on guard.

Or the woman seduces the man or visa versa. That would be hard is some cases.

You can not say "wait a minute here I do not think you are my soul mate so we are history" :lol
Makes me think of all the Christian men who divorced their wives, pastors included, to be with the church organist because it felt so good and right, so it must have been ordained by God--led astray and deceived by their desire for a 'soul mate'.

Nothing wrong with the idea of a soul mate being a spouse with whom you click, but it is this element of destiny that I resist. It will make you sin in more ways than one if you don't get control of it, instead of it getting control of you. This is especially true if you are presently married and your spouse does not give you what you want and you resent that. Look out! Formula for disaster.

Marriage is only for this life, so let it go and start thinking about the kingdom to come. If marriage is one of the things that works out for you in this life, good for you, I mean that, it's a great and wonderful thing when it works. But to put so much stock into it is misguided, IMO.

Nurturing a secret desire for someone else in your heart will destroy the relationship you have now, no doubt about it. Especially if it's being fed by this belief about soul mates and that being a God given destiny. I wonder how many Christian marriages ended because one of the spouses followed what they thought was the God ordained will of having a soul mate instead of following God's will to stay with the one you married to now no matter what (except for adultery, of course).

My husband and I are such complete opposites, but we complete each other Spiritually and mentally as Christ has been the center of our marriage for almost 17 years now. I was married twice before, but both ended in disaster. Like the old country song I was looking for love in all the wrong places, but I knew not what true love was until I found that personal relationship with Christ 18 years ago. Steve is my true love as we both know God put us in each others path. We dated for three months and were almost inseparable as we got to know each other and in separate prayer God showed each of us that we were meant to be together forever. It was the love of Christ that I saw in his eyes that first drew me to him and I'm not saying we don't have our yelling matches at times as we are both bullheaded, but love conquers even the arguments and we never go to bed angry.
