Well since most restaurants are closed and people are getting more acquainted with their kitchens.

What are you making/having for dinner tonight?

We were muching on leftovers - broccoli, homemade Beijing chicken, sweet potatoes, peanut butter, raisins, etc lol...and my husband decided he was craving Mexican so he just ran out to grab some.

I don't think our restaurants have shut down yet.

Well apparently here in Nashville there also has been a run on potatoes. They seem to be as elusive as toilet paper and disinfecting wipes.
So for our corned beef and cabbage we'll be having red potatoes instead of irish...

We need St Patrick to run a few snakes out of the south.

I'll take a Thanksgiving dinner over corn-beef and cabbage any day. :biggrin
It's the "hot" horseradish sauce that makes this dish spectacular.
The ammonia and mustards that lightly burn your nose and tongue...the sweet cabbage, the salty beef, the creamy potatoes all work in tandem to give your mouth a real workout.

By the time you are done your mouth feels taste exhaustion...and really satisfied with all the flavors, textures and smells you experienced.

If you ever go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, try the acid pops and let me know what you think. (And yes they really do sell them there I just checked lol they're supposed to be so hot that they literally burn a hole in your mouth in the stories,.. but they're probably just really hot and spicy in reality.)

my parents were kind enough to invite me over for a mid-day meal. black eyed peas with some sort of ham (the usual parts weren't available...I'm not really familiar with cuts of meat, sorry ), out of the slow cooker...and corn bread.

great meal. I think I might want a slow cooker, now. their slow cooker seems safe and easy(ish) to maintain, so...there's that...

:)

They make plastic liners for crock pots so you only have to clean the lid...they are kinda nifty. My wife showed them to me.

Hey guys before I log off for the night here's an actual recipe to Acid Pops which sounds like an interesting dessert to make so I think it fits for the topic of this thread. :)

We split a rib eye last night, with melted potatoes and carrots.

Whenever Kroger's puts steaks on sale, I buy them, seal them up and freeze them. So now, the freezer is layered with them, and to avoid going to the store a lot, we're eating from the freezer, and so we're eating pretty well.

I do the same...when they have whole pieces on sale. I don't like the way they cut meat. I clean them up much better than they do. (Former chef training)
But we do the same thing.

But more on topic...
Lasagna...
We made a pan from scratch noodles (18 oz of semolina , 2tsp salt, 5 eggs, 1tbs olive oil.)
Then used a blend of hot Italian sausage and ground beef (1:2) and enough tomato sauce to wet it all.

Been eating it all week. The hot Italian sausage mellows out with all the beef and cheeses but is zesty enough to taste for a change.
