If you asked me I would just say I don't know. I think I lean more towards the old earth side because I've heard somewhere that there are stars that are millions of years old so I feel like earth would be somewhat close behind that. What do you guys think?
Try BILLIONS of years.there are stars that are millions of years old
Try BILLIONS of years.
Yeah that too.
My comment assumes you believe in an old earth/universe. If you don't, the estimate doesn't apply.Have you read any evangelical scholars who conclude with an old earth and the reasons they give for believing such an age?
I said in the original post that I leaned towards the belief of an old earth rather than a young one.
I don't think about it. What does it matter anyway aside from just satisfying our own curiosity?
I agree with the BibleIf you asked me I would just say I don't know. I think I lean more towards the old earth side because I've heard somewhere that there are stars that are millions of years old so I feel like earth would be somewhat close behind that. What do you guys think?
OzSpen, in all your teachings all your life on an old earth, what has any of it done to edify the church?Have you read any evangelical scholars who conclude with an old earth and the reasons they give for believing such an age?
Hey Barbarian, you believe in an old earth?Yep. It has no theological implications.

If people are millions of years old, if people come from monkeys and slime, it goes against the Adam and Eve teaching.
How about the Mississippi Delta? One doesn't "believe in" things like that. One accepts or rejects them on the evidence. Since scripture doesn't say how old the Earth is, that's not an issue.
Radioisotope dating, for example, says the Earth is Billions of years old, and we know that's reliable, since it accurately dated the flow that buried Pompeii.
As Kelvin showed, the heat flux from the Earth says that it cannot be less than tens of millions of years old.
Darwin won his argument with Kelvin, pointing out that a few million years was inadequate, given evolution. He was right, as Rutherford later showed.
We can measure the rate of spreading from the Mid-Atlantic ridge. It shows that the spreading has been going on for hundreds of millions of years.
