Nashville Struck

If you read the article...click on the NES map...

I already tried but nothing happened. :/ It just took me to a Twitter page that talked about it.

Don"'t know what a ho-bath is.
Hope your power is soon restored. Stay safe John

I'm not sure either but I guess that it's either a hot bath or a hot-tub. Unless of course his hotel is at the North Pole. Then it would be a ho-ho-ho bath though. :lol

A ho-bath is washing up in a sink or out of a basin when you don't have running water for showers or to fill up a bath tub.

Wow John, thank God you and yours are alright. My heart and prayers go out to everyone in Nashville and surrounding areas who have lost family members and everything they owned and all the businesses that have lost their buildings. I saw some of the pics and it's really bad down there. It wasn't that many years ago Nashville got flooded out. I know many will come back from all of this, but it won't be easy.

My apartment is across the street from the hospital...a primary place for utilities to restore first. But if they get power then I get power.
The roads are all closed or gridlocked around my place. My place itself is fine...but I'm surrounded by damage.
grab trusty lineman truck, use parts to repair your power and call the utility and let them know you are on. and yes I worked with a lineman who was restoring power to his job area and did so while not having power and told the other where it was out and was told when we get the chance. so he and one other with permission fixed it and told the other grid.

a bath using a face rag, water in a bath tub, or sink(usually) and or wipies. I have done the sink one and also wipies. I carried them in my work truck and would wipe my hands and knees after a route. so that I didn't have to drive miles to wash my hands.

Thanks for the info on ho-bath. I've had to use that method at times

Hey! Hospitals have both waiting rooms and cafeterias. Both usually serve coffee!
Don't you wish we thought about that this morning?

Seriously, I saw some headlines at lunch today. Man, you got hit really hard. I feel sorry for the families who lost loved ones.

I cooked dinner with a camp stove tonight (Italian sausage and saffron rice)...in the morning I will use my camp stove and percolator coffee pots for the hook-up.

Gotta go in to work.

They had to get a generator and power up the parking lot lights at the hospital...too many people know about cutting through their parking lot to get around a bad intersection with no lights.
They shoulda just hacked the traffic lights instead...oh well.
They got 300 linemen heading for Nashville to fix this place up. (3 guys to a truck) Over 250 poles down. 15 primary transmission lines out too. (What feeds power to substations) and several substations destroyed.

I would have thought that they would have the power back up but I heard that the poles between the substation and here are gone as well as the transmission lines.
*Sigh*
Probably tomorrow sometime I'll get power.

So far this morning still no power for the hospital or me...
I made my coffee on the camp stove. Packed my lunch out of the icebox. I'm heading to work. Gonna need a shower for me and my wife tonight for sure.
*Sigh*

They are saying that maybe tomorrow night they might have the local substation back up...they aren't sure. Too many transmission lines are down. Distribution lines in many places are MIA too.

Really? That's good. :)

No switch yard hit?? I haven't heard of a sub or switchyard going down here to where they must rebuild it all,and that takes time .

You can truck in and build a sub station that is temporary ,it won't be big but they are meant to go be big, shoot, they have power plants on trailers that can be trucked in and connected and running in two days. I,have heard of portable sub stations .

There's a place that sells crushed rock of various sizes...the F3 hit that first...guess what happens when a whole mountain of crushed rock gets picked up by a tornado...
And then hits the sub station...

But the problem is power. That dub station is fed by TVA and NES and both lines are down.

Who knows when TVA will get their lines fixed...
NES is trying...but them union thugs are horribly slow and lazy (by tradition)
We got a bunch of linemen guys in town running around... haven't seen them doing much except looking at power lines.
Supposedly the story is tomorrow after work we'll get power...if not by then... Monday evening.
I'm really ready to just leave town with a few cuss words and a trailer hooked up to my truck.
I'll come back?
Might not. Been looking for a reason to leave.

Had a friend offer us freezer space...we have a chest deep freezer...was looking to save some meat we bought on sale... still expensive stuff on sale at half price.
Theirs is an upright half of a refrigerator...and it's tiny. We can't fit even a portion of my food in there... several hundreds of dollars of food is going to be gone soon.

I'm depressed, tired, and frustrated with all the closed roads. (Why are they closed at this point?)
Took me an hour to get down the off ramp to the street from the interstate.
Shower, dinner and bed... gonna take all night to get it done.

I,feel, for yah but with hurricanes ,power usually takes one month to,restore was without power for 12 days.others three or more weeks

It's just a mile or two from the substation.
The hospital has been without power for two days. Of the 30,000+ people without most (25,000) are out of that one switchyard.

The lines feeding that yard are the problem now...
I have no idea why they have the roads closed.
But it's another nightmare other than having no power.

Sounds like the emergency manager needed to get better ,we still for these .

Well...
Power came back on around 3 this morning.
That was an unpleasant surprise when our bedroom light came on.

Internet is still out because of the generators hooked into the Telecom system... maybe those lines are gone too...lots of poles are gone...so our smart TV ain't smart.
Maybe they can get it all fixed soon.
