So far as the world is concerned, the expansion of the sun. So far as the universe is concerned, heat death. Look them up.

Best wishes, 2RM.
No doubt the scientific community was quite proud of itself when it made this great breakthrough discovery ?
I find that humorous in light of the fact that God established the earth's destruction by heat a couple of thousand years before they got such a bright idea.
All they did was confirm the Words of God on the matter
If only they had looked up the Words of God they would have saved themselves much time and effort .

2Pe 3:10
"But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

I take it then that much like the scientific collective you had no idea that the Word of God clearly declares the earth's demise by heat?

... perfect because it's imperfect? I sometimes like to consider this paradox. If the world was perfect, and had no imperfections, there would be nothing of any importance left to do. I think we would quickly grow bored.

Best wishes to you all. 2RM.
Some believe you can't have good without evil.
Personally, I think a perfect world would have been nice.

We still would have our jobs, our homes, our families to raise, grass to cut, shopping, etc..

Why bored?

On the contrary, I see no reason for this 'all or nothing' approach. I believe some, but not the entirety, of the scriptures. And I am quite happy that way, following what seems to me to be true,

I would just add, that a God who establishes His creation across billions of light years and billions of age years seems to me to be far greater than a God who just snaps His fingers and says 'Let there be life!' To think otherwise seems to me to run counter to the science, and belittles Him.

Best wishes, 2RM.
So are you saying the creation of God in Genesis is false?

Darwin had a better theory.

Best wishes, 2RM
Ya, only a theory without absolutes. A theory is only a carefully thought out explanation for observations of the natural world that has been constructed using scientific method, but only speculative. God does not deal with the natural, but the supernatural in all things that are Spiritual and not carnal logical thoughts.

You can either believe in worldly things of man, or you can believe in the supernatural things of God in all His creation as there is no fence riding. I can't understand how one can call themselves a Christian, but deny the power of God.

God created not just the world, but the entire universe. All 'worldly' things are begotten by Him. Far from denying God's power, I embrace it in its totality, and science helps me that way.

He siad, Come out of her my childtren ad seek me alone. Look to the unseen and not the world...

But Jesus. Darwin has such a good theory!

Now, no one has to believe me. But this is what I believe. I believe that the entire spiritual unseen aspects of this life we have on earth here is a bigger absolute reality than we have here. Our atmosphere is likely saturated with spiritual presence of both good and evil types to a degree that would be astonishng to us. And that book that He left for us, His book, is absolutely totally spiritual. It's like a spiritual telephone. All we gotts do is step up to it and say, hello God and the almighty creator of the universe will talk to us. That right there is a way more significant reality of life for us than many people are willing to admit. The full ramifications of that will probably wind up being such, that a whole of people (who are saved) will be saying...what? If I would have known that then I could've...

So it's best we all be taking this more seriously than we were trained to do. Jesus gave us all power and authority also and geater things than Jesus did will we do. Can we see how huge that is, if we're willing to believe it?!

God didn't have to snap His fingers. He spoke and it happened. Lord help our unbelief.

The last few years of my life the spiritual aspects have been off the hook . I have seen things , heard things , and smelled things :eek , of the spiritual realm .
One night after an encounter on a forum online with a person that left me wondering if they were a person or a demon . I was sitting in my usual spot outside in the darkness to start my prayer time . I had been there a minute of two when I heard this awful wet snarl over my shoulder . But there was no fear on my part because in the middle of the snarl the Holy Spirit said " That is demonic ." The demon could not touch me but they were NOT happy . Remember this verse .
Job 1:10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

The hedge around us , praise God !

I suggest you look up the word in your dictionary. I mean nothing different than that.

Best wishes, 2RM.

2RM,

The Oxford English Dictionary gives these meanings of myth:

"A traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining a natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural beings or events.
‘ancient Celtic myths’

  • 2A widely held but false belief or idea.
‘the belief that evening primrose oil helps to cure eczema is a myth, according to dermatologists’
  1. 2.1A misrepresentation of the truth.

‘attacking the party's irresponsible myths about privatization’
  • 2.2A fictitious or imaginary person or thing.

‘nobody had ever heard of Simon's mysterious friend—Anna said he was a myth’

  • 2.3An exaggerated or idealized conception of a person or thing.

‘the book is a scholarly study of the Churchill myth’

To which ones are you referring? You don't understand the meaning of myth if you want the dictionary to give one meaning.

We still grow bored with our lives, generally, even though opportunities for excitement are there. People choose to put excitement into worldly things and not spiritual things, where there is more potential for personal and spiritual, and financial growth.

They all seem appropriate explanations of aspects of the word 'myth' to me. And I guess I mean an agglomeration (if that's a word!) of all of them.

What's financial growth got to do with it? Why does it matter to you?

Because all of that, with the possible exception of raising one's family, is pretty trivial, really. And we would quickly tire of what has been called 'the long, littleness of life'.

Ah but science offers us the insights of why it will happen (ie., what will cause it) and when it will happen (the Earth uninhabitable in about a billion years, and being engulfed by the sun in about 7 billion years). Habitability assumng, of course, we don't do something radically stupid first, such as start chucking nukes around, or otherwise destroying the ecosphere on which we depend for our sustenance. But don't worry too much, a billion years is a heck of a long time.

2RM,

So you believe the secularist, Charles Darwin, had a better theory of creation than God Himself?

I'm flabbergasted and have no grounds for further discussion.

Oz
It is certainly a better theory than the Bronze Age Jews had.

You said that in a perfect world there would nothing left to do that would be of any importance.

What leads you to make this claim?
Is cancer conquered better and faster in an environment of hostility or cooperation?

Your short answers show no interest in discussion. Why does imperfection create a more interesting world?

So question, if you've given your life to the Lord and are saved...then, you believe that God is true...and if God is true then His Word is true. rumour has it that He made sure that you got a copy of His words and instructions to you for your benefit for when after you receive Him as Lord.

So it stands to reason that God is true then His Word is true. And if some of is true, then all of it has to be true. Come on Brother, what do you mean, all of it isn;t true?! Sorta laughable because we both know the truth. You said that God answered a prayer for you. Ok, I believe you, God has answered a lot of my prayers! (wanna hear some testimonies?!!).
Hmmm. This is so philosophically illiterate I don't really quite know where to start.

Let's try this. It is just not the case that if some theory is true (or rather, consistent with reality and not yet disproven) all component parts of that theory are also true. Take the ancient Greek (Democritus') idea of the atom. He thought all matter was composed of atoms, and on that he was quite right. But he also thought that atoms were indivisible, and on that he was quite wrong. For the last hundred years, since Rutherford first split an atom, physicists have been discovering a whole plethora of sub atomic particles, and will doubtless find more as the field develops.

Best wishes, 2RM.
