If somebody is not being financially responsible when it comes to their retirement, then why should the minority of us who are trying to be responsible give our hard earned and saved cash to those who didn’t.
HI stovebolts

Because there is a vast majority of those who don't think they can trust themselves to save for their retirement. Because, it's how governments are expected to care for their citizens according to all the evidence of all the nations on the face of the earth. Because not everyone gets a chance to save enough to see them through 10-20 years of a retired life.

Listen, what governments do changes over time. Sure, 200 years ago everybody worked until they died or had to live with some other friend or family member if they weren't able to work. No nations paid out anything in the way of monies to maintain some reasonable lifestyle. But that's changed! 200 years ago we didn't have to fund building multi-lane highways that stretched across the nation. Today that's changed! 200 years ago our military spending was like a few thousand dollars and was a pittance of total government spending. Today that's changed!!!

So, I'm all for 'conservative' values, but I don't equate that to returning to living in a cave with a club that I use to beat my girlfriend. For me, 'conservative' means older Scriptural rules and practices. But the Scriptures don't address the issue of what national governments are supposed to do for us. It does say that we should be obedient to and that they should work for the people. Now, let's stop right there. 'For the people', shouldn't be translated as 'the way I want things to be'.

According to AARP.org, over 90% of all registered voters approve of the Social Security program.

According to a 2019 poll reported on kff..org 75% of Americans approve of the Medicaid system.

So, understand that when we say that a government representative should speak 'for the people', it should be understsood that even their constituency has disagreement, but there is a majority opinion or understanding. The observance of that truth is what is really understood when one says, 'for the people'.

God bless,
Ted

Yeah, these modern cars are safer than what we grew up driving. Four wheel drum brakes, no anti lock etc. we had to actually drive them! Nowadays they can stay in their own lane and if you switch lanes without the turn signal it gives resistance just in case you didn’t mean to wander into the wrong lane. They even parallel park themselves! Kinda cool imo.
Until that breaks.
Or you have to drive a semi which requires a lot of skill and not much time to get good .

There's a recall on that with Chrysler .not that I don't drive distracted at times but said tech makes it easier .

That put me to thinking . Wouldn't putting a roof on be cheaper than paying section 8 housing for someone ? But would our gov think that way ? :chin
The local chapter of habitat for humanity does what it can here but also other agencies but is fought against .liberal states talk about the poor but are the worst in making things affordable

I was doing some repair work for an old friend of the family, and she came to the tv shop driving a 1968 SS396 Chevelle .
I asked to drive it and she said ok, I crank it up and start backing it up and notice NO power steering or power brakes :shock . I found out I was spoiled to ps and pb right away , lol . I am out in the road and get my foot down good on the gas and the car starts coughing and bucking and I asked her "what kind of gas are you using ?" Regular she said :lol . I guess she never mashed the pedal down very far .

My wife's Nissan has lane alert and vibes the wheel if you get on the line . I found out I get on lines a lot more than I thought , lol .

There's a difference between safety and helicopter parenting .

What's missing here is ,why should I save the state already says I will have ain income .people do think this way.ss isn't selling itself that way but the media implies without we would have poverty and yet I know a few homeless who collect ss and can't find a place to rent and live in cars.

Interesting idea .

The problem is
1. Politicians are idiots and have no skin to loose.ie so what their policies fail, they loose office at the worse and collect a retirement with paid staff for life.im talking Congress ,in top of the lobbyists er bribes .
2. Covid 19 lockdowns which epically didny stop the virus and it's here to stay and all it did was increase inflation plus costs lives and jobs. This tells me that we shouldn't look to the state for safety .no I'm not anarchist just learned how stupid it was in the military how they gave out contradictory orders .
3.like animals we if we don't have to fend for ourselves will forget .a safety net now a days is pushed as a liveable wage and voting for this with the idiots in office is ignoring the above points .the only constant in the universe is death and taxation .well the Lords word .

In general we simply try avoid paying for our mistakes ,poor choices .

In stead of save what you can ,avoid poor decisions .live morally and avoid mammon .will today's decision affect me tomorrow and in what way?

Fine forgiveness. Like I said before when people have an issue take it to the courts. So what, all those mandate fines handed put were not even ligit?

Good to see alot of people in my home country are waking up to the complete lunacy.

The preferred PM rating, Ol Cindy is at the lowest ever and the preferred party, the opposition are ahead and they could govern alone.

Does really make a difference anyhow one party or the other, they both to all bow to the unelected globalists.

But when you see the lowest ratings for the current administration after the last few years, you know people can smell somethings not right. That's a start.

People were loving all that free cash and sitting home all day getting paid to play video games for weeks during lockdowns. Not so happy now paying for a loaf of bread and some gas.

Hi stovebolts
What!!? Have you been asleep for the last 50 years? American greed and capitalism 'happened'. Since the beginning of debt, the only people who wanted to live financially responsibly and below their means has always been a minority of the people. Most people want what they want and they want it now!!! The very beginning of the credit card and retail debt model seeks to provide a way for people to have more than they can afford. How do we expect anyone to understand your model when every other support post in our retail stores touts how easy it is to get a credit card for all that christmas shopping. You'll get 10% off your order today if you open up one of our branded credit cards.

For that small minority of people who do live by the model of financial responsibility and below their means, they usually have a fairly satisfactory life. But our capitalistic business model makes living under such strictures less and less inviting. It's just like the punk that sees the flashy drug dealer making lots of money and so he sets himself to follow the example of the drug dealer. And that's not going to get better. But so to, when someone sees all the 'stuff' the neighbor has, it's hard to not want to keep up.

God bless,
Ted
If I understand you correctly, you are saying that because the majority lives with an entitlement attitude, the rest of us, the minority, are stuck paying the difference. While I don't agree it is fair or right, I think I can see what you are saying, if I'm hearing you correctly.

Of course both the dealers and manufacturers want to sell the loaded models , more money for all involved .
Sure I understand most people want the gizmos, base models are almost impossible to find anyway .
A lot of this has to do with we that buyers. Fifty years ago, the assembly lines were set up to produce the most basic automobile but over time people began to show less and less interest in buying automobiles that didn't come with all the bells and whistles. To get one with all the extras was very expensive and required special order. With the consumer showing less and less interest in the basic cut down version and more interest in all the extras, the automakers restructured their assembly lines to include the bells and whistles by default. Now, to get a cut down version requires special order and it most likely costs more or at least very similar to the full blown version of the same vehicle.

You can order basic trucks .let me see.

I have seen some fleet trucks that were basic cut down. Even with hand crank windows. Every one of them on the lot was white so even the color was basic.
The city I work for has got those but even then now they have power windows .

Not with Toyota.it was that way.

The Dutch government is planning to buy up and shut down almost 3,000 farms in a bid to meet to EU greenhouse gas emissions targets.

Because some the most advanced farmers in the world can't do it so quick forcefully, because its complete joke and a war against humanity, the government is going to buy them out.

That's so ruthless. No wonder they standing up for there livelihoods that is being unjustly stolen from them. Complete globalist scam.

The Netherlands is a sovereign state and constitutional monarchy.

The EU is a unelected foreign establishment.

It's like a different form of treason these days. They all submitting and following unelected foreign establishments and unelected foreign officials agendas to rule over thee own soverieng countries, and they don't call that treason.
