[__ Science __ ] Old Earth vs. Young Earth

Moses is traditionally believed to have received information about creation through divine revelation.

May I say to you that we need to understand that Moses who wrote the 1st five books of the Bible was not around to witnesses the Creation or the flood. I think that we must also acknowledge the possibility that Moses drew upon existing oral traditions passed down through generations. The stories of creation, Adam and Eve, and the early patriarchs may have been preserved within the Israelite community, transmitted from father to son, from generation to generation by moth

I agree and have said exactly that.

The question is not did God create dino's, but when were they created?
all scripture is God breathed..

even Moses writings

Some interpretations suggest that Noah's Flood was a shadow and type of a greater geological event, possibly linked to the breakup of Pangaea. This perspective explored in creationist circles, where some believe that the global flood described in Genesis 6–9 played a role in shaping Earth's continents.
what would suggest this?

Moses makes it very clear that a day is 1,000 years and Peter confirms this.
No

he said God is not slack. To God a day is like 1000 years.

God has been around for all eternity. he has no beginning. to him the last 6000 years are but a blink of an eye

we cannot understand this because our sense of time is limited to the short time we have on earth.

so we complain, why is God taking so long. why does god allow all this stuff.

we forget. To God a day is like 1000 years. he is not slack concerning his promise

Yes and those three days represents 3,000 years. Two thousand years for the Church Age and one thousand years for the kingdom age. Also the seventh day from Adam is the third day from Jesus. I believe Jesus died exactly 4,000 years from the time when Adam and Eve fell into sin. David lived 1,000 years before Jesus. In 2 Samuel 7:12–16, God promises David that his throne will be established forever
now this is out there. where do you get this?

Moses said God rested on the seventh day.

then gave us the sabbath day, as God worked in six days and rested the 7th.

the 7th is on day, the evening and the morning

now this is out there. where do you get this?
I do not know if the Group or the Book came first. Most of my understanding came from reading the book. But then I just studied all the scriptures about the third day and the seventh day in the Bible. Hosea 6:2 speaks of revival on the third day: "After two days He will revive us; on the third day He will raise us up, that we may live in His presence."

The third day is a significant theme throughout the Bible, often symbolizing resurrection, divine intervention, and fulfillment of God's promises. Here are some key scriptures that mention the third day:

  • Genesis 1:13 – The third day of creation, when God gathered the waters and brought forth vegetation.
  • Genesis 22:4 – Abraham saw the place of sacrifice on the third day.
  • Genesis 42:18 – Joseph spoke to his brothers on the third day.
  • Exodus 19:11 – God instructed Israel to prepare for His appearance on Mount Sinai on the third day.
  • Joshua 9:17 – The Israelites discovered the deception of the Gibeonites on the third day.
  • 1 Samuel 20:5 – David planned to hide until the third evening.
  • 2 Kings 20:5 – God promised to heal King Hezekiah and let him go to the temple on the third day.
  • Esther 5:1 – Queen Esther approached the king on the third day.
  • Hosea 6:2 – A prophecy of revival: "On the third day He will raise us up."
  • Matthew 16:21 – Jesus foretold His resurrection on the third day.
  • Matthew 17:23 – Jesus said He would be killed and raised on the third day.
  • Luke 24:46 – Jesus explained that His resurrection was written in the Scriptures.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:4 – Paul affirmed that Christ was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.
These passages highlight the symbolic and prophetic importance of the third day in biblical history.

The seventh day is a significant theme in the Bible, often associated with rest, holiness, and divine completion. Here are some key scriptures:

  • Genesis 2:2-3 – God rested on the seventh day after creation and blessed it.
  • Exodus 20:8-11 – The Ten Commandments instruct keeping the Sabbath holy.
  • Exodus 31:17 – The seventh day is a sign between God and Israel.
  • Leviticus 23:3 – The Sabbath is a day of complete rest and holy convocation.
  • Deuteronomy 5:14 – The seventh day is a Sabbath for all, including servants and animals.
  • Hebrews 4:4 – God rested on the seventh day from all His works.

if it is god breathed, it probably is not word of mouth..or if it is. It would be through the lens of God inspiring the words. so we can trust them 100%

Genesis is a narrative.

It should not be taken symbolically. thats what I mean, where did you get that we should take a narrative telling of literal things that took place. and make symbols of them

what would suggest this?
In the Bible, shadows and types are symbolic representations that point to deeper spiritual truths. They are often found in the Old Testament and foreshadow events, people, or concepts fulfilled in the New Testament. Here are some key examples: allegory metaphore archetype homieties, symbolic, paradigm parrables allusions.

Have you ever read Bishop Usshers book? He is pretty much accepted by everyone for the last 500 years. James Ussher was an Irish Anglican bishop and scholar, best known for his biblical chronology that dated the creation of the world to 4004 BC. He served as the Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland from 1625 to 1656. His work on patristic texts and biblical chronology was influential, and his date for creation was widely accepted in the Western world until the 19th century.

Maybe next you will be trying to tell me that Saint Nicholas was not a real person.
I usually go by his dates as well, The thing is we cannot claim that Adam sinned precisely 4000 years before Jesus died or was born etc. How would you know? It was approximately 4000 years. Don't build a whole theory on it having to be something you do not know

If we have the mind of Christ and the Divine thoughts of God, then it does matter.
Except having the mind of Christ has zero do do with trying to correlate with your unsupported inside the head dreams

Oh? Why not 8 trillion years sine they are made up anyhow?
I do not have a PhD in astro physics. But it amazes me that people that do not even function at a 5 th grade level seem to think they know more then the Dr know.

They would be right, if the believed God. Even if they were in kindergarten. The poor sods that think they are know it alls are actually fools in God's eyes.

What God reveals to those very young ones is truth.

What God hides from the very educated ones is truth.

God always determines for Himself what to reveal to who. This is plainly stated by Him in His Word, eh? His Word is Always Good, Right, and Truth.

Even if they were in kindergarten.
Actually you have to become as a child. I think that means a mature child. There was a program on TV are you as smart as a fifth grader. A lot of people can not function at a fifth grade level. For me my pre school readiness test would require them to know the Hebrew Alphabet and what the letters represent. Today school superintendents would flunk my test for kindergarten students.

Matthew 18:3 Jesus said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."

Little has to do with their steps. They have to put out more effort to keep up with the adults. But sometimes they have so much energy they can run circles around the adults.

Tubal cain cup.jpg
"Discovered in a power plant in 1912. Two men dislodged this iron cup in a large chunk of coal which has an assigned age of 300 million years. If true, then humans were around much longer than we are being told. If however the dating of coal is wrong, then this was possibly forged from the metal shop of Tubal-Cain 5,500 years ago and got caught up in the global flood of 2348 B.C."
Rodger , I had a question for you , did you miss it ?

*"As the Word of God has been passed down through generations, it is truly remarkable how well the Bible has been preserved. In ancient times, Scripture was read publicly in synagogues, but personal copies were rare—many people couldn't afford them, and literacy was not widespread.

When Paul says, 'It is written,' he may never have owned a copy of the Psalms himself, relying instead on what was read to him. However, we do know that he had access to books, as Mark brought some to him."
Agreed.

Cannt miss something you were never looking for!

IMHO..... you must realize that the info you posted comes from a very "strict" young earth creation web site.

Then, this as with all things that all of a sudden pop up as outliers, is that one problem with this kind of evidence is that it relies heavily on the veracity and memories of the individuals involved.

Since all people commonly lie or are otherwise fallible in this regard, scientifically, anecdotal evidence is not worth much. One might ask why would these men would make up such a story. There might be any number of other reasons-------
1. for a gag,
2. attention,
3. an effort to validate something they believe in etc.

However, even if they were telling the truth as far as they knew it, there is an aspect of the report about which they could be mistaken, and on which the significance of the find could rest.

The point is, one cannot make a compelling scientific argument based solely on the word of two individuals. Even the major creationist group Answers in Genesis (AIG) seems to agree with this principle. One of their web articles entitled "Where are all the human fossils" cautions that claims about man-made objects in ancient sediments are not worth much unless accompanied by reliable real-time documentation of the excavation.

Noting that past claims of this nature, including other alleged objects in coal, have not met these rigorous criteria, the authors state: ....
"We can only concur that there is no definite unequivocal evidence of human remains in those rock strata that can definitely be identified as Flood sediments."
Source: (Batten et al, 2006).

In a similar article strict creationist Andrew Snelling writes in Creation Magazine: "As far as we are aware at the present time, there are no indisputable human fossils in the fossil record that we could say belong to the pre-Flood human culture(s)." (Snelling, 1991).
