Mice are in my kitchen and the mother must of had babies, because there are more than one. I caught one last weak in the old traditional traps, and I thought that was it. But I keep seeing more droppings' and my fiancee said she saw 2 today. So the other night what I did was go to the internet' and I dound some stuff to try and I tried it. It was cement and flour with a little salt and water sitting next to it' read the article I used below and you will see what I am talking about. Tonight I am going to try the soda method, plus I have mice poison. And they were eating the cement' but I don't know if it killed any yet and they drank the water. I will try the soda tonight. Now dying in the walls is another story, but the mice poison that I have dries them out and no smell.

Effective Ways To Kill Mice

There are many ways to kill mice if you find them in your home, but some methods involve using poisons that can be harmful to children or pets. Thankfully, there are more “natural” methods out there that are safer but just as effective as poison.
Before you mix up a batch of mice killer, however, you need to find out where the mice are in your house. If you haven’t actually seen a mouse yet, look for its droppings (feces). These are small and black, and will be evident along walls and baseboards. You may also see evidence of mice in your kitchen cabinets, if there are containers of cereal, rice, or flour that are gnawed open. Once you have found signs of the presence of mice, it’s time to go to work.
Here are some do-it-yourself ways to kill mice.

  • The soda method. This method works because mice cannot burp to relieve themselves of gas buildup in their stomach. You simply set out several small bowls of cola in the places where you’ve seen evidence of mice. The mice will drink the cola because it is sweet, and they will die from the carbonation in the cola. Note: the soda in the bowls will go flat after a few hours, so refill the bowls periodically. Mice are most active at night, so put a new bowl of cola out just before you go to bed. Do not eat out of the bowls if mice have come in contact with them, because mice carry harmful germs and diseases.
  • The dry mixture method. Mix one cup of dry Plaster of Paris or dry cement, one cup of flour, and one tablespoon of salt in a bowl. Put some water in another bowl. Set the bowls out in an area the mice frequent. Mice will eat the dry mixture and get thirsty, then they’ll drink the water. This will cause the mixture to harden inside them, and they will die.
  • The sponge method. Take a sponge and cut it in small pieces. Soak the pieces in bacon grease or gravy. Leave the pieces out for the mice to eat. The mice will be attracted to the grease or gravy, and will eat the sponge pieces. The sponges will swell inside the mice and kill them.
There are humane but effective ways to kill mice. If you have a severe mice infestation, however, you may need to call in a professional exterminator.

Yeah reba when I had my cat Kimba she kept this place free of them. But you know I did not know that mice do not have the ability to burp. That can be very bad if you just drank a Cola.

Not all cats are good mice catchers. You are gambling with that. Some just kind of look at the mice like they could care less.I had tons of mice last year.No mice this year at all.First of all I went to Home Depot and purchased a roll of what they called "critter screening".It is black and it is pliable. They were having a regular family reunion in my family room.At first I was scared to death of them but after awhile I started to see where they were escaping to.I took the screening and I put in every place I saw them entering the house.I also put it in front of ever crack. They can go through an opening 1/16th of an inch.Next I did my research. They hate peppermint with a passion. They will not go anywhere that they can smell it.I got some cotton squares. They are usually used for taking off makeup.I got some "real" peppermint extract and put a couple drops on the square.I put these squares every place that I saw a mouse enter.I put them in my garage as well because they were in there.I also put them in my drawers in my kitchen where I have seen evidence of them...I think it worked :)

A year or so back we had to have pest control come and get rid of our mice. They were getting into practically everything. Never had mice before that.

We actually have a cat now, so they'll probably not try to settle in here again.

Yes Kathi older cats will sometimes let the mice play but young one won't.

I heard that you have to feed them very lightly so they will be hungry enough to be interested.I did not want to do that.I like a pet well fed.

I was tempted to deep fry them and give them to a lady at work.Maybe with a nice dip and tell her I had this really nice horderve. But no Kathi........that is really bad.... :neutral

Make sure you remove the tails first, else you'll give the game away...

Hi dear sister, on the following video I think I see your cat in action at minute 2:43. I'm not sure what action it plans at that point. :)

I think they are almost extinct. Tasmania is a state of Australia, anyway. I'd love to go down there. Blessings.
