Is it real? Remember what Christ said about the Rich man and Lazarus. Remember such words like: 'burning with brimstone' etc

I tremble whenever I think about the word hellfire. I know what it feels like to suffer burn or fire attack...or when you touch something hot. Now hellfire is different - the whole body is sunk into it. The more frightening part is: eternity in hellfire

If you aren't going to experience it, why concentrate on it?

Really common sense and logic in the forums

If you are a Christian this is the only hell you will know.

If you are a non Christian this is the only heaven you will know.

I've read a lot of NDEs with a lot of hellfire going on. Between this and OOB experiences like Bill Weiss', I personally am beyond doubt. Just for me, mind you. I'm not sure how I could offer more tangible proof to others.

All we have is the word of God and to me that is pretty tangible.

I've always been sure it is so, but I can't help hoping I'm wrong.

Me too. I try to be careful about the hellfire stuff. It is a very sensitive part of the Word of God (altho hard to understand the 'whys' of such a measure by a loving God). I think it is safer to proclaim it exists (and even if it doesnt) so that men may turn to light..rather to say it doesn't - and cause many to sin more.

Is hellfire real? Ask the Brasilian soccer team. Mwahahahaha! :lol

Christ was worried about 'the others'
:amen:thumbsup

If Jesus taught it, then we need to understand it.

There are many false teachers out there teaching there is no such thing as hell or hell fire.

A good healthy spiritual diet makes for a balanced Christian.

We should be ready to answer anyone as to why we have this hope of eternal life.

I also have a somewhat scientific interpretation of hellfire, believe it or not. Think about what we are on an energetic level. We take in fuel from consumption (carbohydrates), mix them with oxygen from the atmosphere, and burn the mixture in little furnaces called mitochondria inside most of our cells. This gives us the energy for life, but what does it make us? Literal combustion engines, producing constant heat until we die. Stop or even slow the thermal production for even a few minutes, and we suffer terminal shutdown (death).

So we are like little funaces running around, why don't we feel the heat? Yes, we have natural heat dissipation systems, but why don't we feel the heat? Because God insulates us from the sensation of heat. Without his grace, we would burn alive from our own metabolic processes.

Maybe that's what happens in Hell. These people have rejected God. So He withdraws his protection, and they burn up from the inside out. They're not just thrown into a lake of fire; they ARE the lake of fire. NDEs (my favorite subject) have made several references to the fire burning from within the damned soul's essence.

One of the feedbacks I've gotten from studying NDEs (I hope that term isn't annoying anyone too much yet; I'm going to use it a lot; for me it's like T3, the modern high-tech scripture) is Jesus' extreme concern that the New Age-ish idea of a lack of a literal Hell is getting way out of control. Many people in the "industry" even (preachers) have gotten away from teaching about a physical Hell. Even a pope (JPII) spoke out denouncing a "real" hell.

I also thought for quite a while that Hell was not a physical place of torment, but only a state of the soul in separation from its Creator (which is admittedly a pretty bad feeling just by itself). For the record, I no longer think that way. I believe in a real Hell, real physical (is that the right word?) torture, and hellfire.
