  • Yes, well Romans 14 contains a great framework in terms of the believer's personal freedom. (We're talking about adults now, of course.) In any case, it's an art and a skill and these days a parlor can be more like a salon with comfy armchairs and glossy magazines; and I saw an ivillage youtube clip, part of a series, which shows how inks today are vastly safer than years ago. Re. the music, the youtube folk themselves monitor what's suitable for uploading and what's not, and they pull clips that aren't appropriate, for whatever reason. Youtube wouldn't have grown to become a successful company if they didn't do this. Blessings.
Hi questdriven: I understand what you were saying on the thread in relation to your tattoo thoughts; and actually I myself don't see myself as promoting tattoos; it's just that since they are so widespread including among Christians and because faith related ones can be effective conversation and witness tools, then Christians already considering them might also want to consider faith related designs. But I don't see myself as actually promoting tattoos. BTW, I'm a bit surprised at the controversy on the other thread about copyright; there is always the fair use provision. I've made a few posts on that thread and I didn't start the thread (whereas I did start the tattoo thread), so I might not have too much more to say there. I continue to read with interest your comments about music; blessings, f
Well, this is great. Yes, ty; we met up with some friends in a small French speaking church. Blessings.
questdriven: Yes, well local church situations shouldn't depend on one person, however good. It's interesting in Acts 20 Paul exhorts the Epehsian elders as group to feed the flock of God and care for them; not just a case of, Let's leave it all to one guy and he'll do it all. Glad it went okay; and hope you'll now be able to profit more from the Word, which is what it's all about. Blessings.
questdriven: Hi there; so how did it go at the new church yesterday: more, good, Biblical preaching? (My wife and I were away in Montreal over the weekend; I haven't been around the forums much just lately.) Blessings.
questdriven: Sounds like you are getting comfortable there already! Blessings.
The key is making 'a joyful noise unto the Lord', right? there is anyway a great body of hymns to use, that has grown over the years. Blessings.
There's something very wholesome about old hymns. Sounds like it was an added, God honoring bonus for you, anyway. Blessings.
What was the music like this morning, BTW? (I know that you rightly don't regard music as a key issue.) Blessings.
PS: And, if I may say so, what you've done is a very adult and responsible thing: gone to a local church out of personal conviction for the sake of the Word of God, even though you didn't know anyone there. I'm sure the Lord will honor your conviction as you continue to seek His will. Blessings.
Well, I'm pleased for you. And I think that the bad press that some Southern Baptists had for segregationism many, many years ago has largely become a thing of the past. Blessings.
Well, I see, okay. My (very limited) impression is that it would depend a lot on the folk who are actually in the leadership of any local Southern Baptist church. In the end it's how the local church adorns the doctrines of the Lord Jesus Christ, that counts. There were some really conservative folk in the Southern Baptists who tried to impose their conservatism from outside; Biblical independency, however, has long been a key Baptist practice and it really depends on how the local believers handle all the issues. (My two cents', anyway.)
questdriven: BTW, you might want to look at the new local church's overall doctrinal framework; in the long term especially, it would make a lot of difference, one way or another. But great the Bible study you went to was profitable. Re. pants, so do some of the women at our local church for our Bible study. Blessings.
Well, great. The same folk as for the Wed. Bible study maybe? but anyway, good that it was Scriptural and edifying. And your mom and the folk at the previous church don't need to worry that suddenly you're going put away the King James for ever, suddenly start wearing funny clothes, suddenly gettings lots of piercings & tattoos, and so forth: these would probably be a caricature of how you are, really. I'm glad for you, anyway. Blessings.
questdriven: Glad it went okay with her, anyway, and the issue isn't really the merits of the King James, a great version, but rather the extravagant and inaccurate things that are said about it. Plus a whole lot of things besides. Glad also your transportation issues seem to have been resolved. Blessings.
questdriven: Hey, well I'm so glad to hear anyway that you went to a gathering of Christians of your choice and conviction and profited from the Scriptures presented there. This is what it's all about, isn't it. Hope mom is okay, as regards church and health, too. Sounds like where you went might be the kind of place where you might want to keep going to anyway. You'll probably find in some ways the folk there have different ideas in other ways, too, but this will of course be all part of your balancing it out in your mind from Scripture. Blessings.
Hi questdriven: saw your name pop up there; hope you got along okay in church today. It was kind of quiet earlier but more folk on the forums now. Saw your posts about Casting Crowns; the group is very popular, yes. Hope your preacher doesn't dislike even them; he's entitled to his likes and dislikes of course, distinct from 'Thus saith the Lord', of course. Blessings.
