There are two new strains in the UK.
Italy has to do what the EU wants...there is no more sovereignty for EU countries.
We can't print money either which causes lots of problems.

Italy is running on color coding.
WHITE
YELLOW
ORANGE
RED

The only region that is white (normal) is Sardegna.
It's an island and will only let in persons that get tested/have been vaccinated.

Tuscany is Orange.
Restaurants and bars (cafes) are open only for take out orders.
Shopping malls are closed on the weekends.
We cannot leave our town of residency unless for work/health/emergencies.
Elementary and middle schools are open.
High schools are working on a "two-tier" system (hybrid?).
My granddaughter goes to high school every other day and does alternating days on the internet with her class.
We're not supposed to go visit friends...but who's paying any attention to that!

All regions must wear masks, sanitize hands going in and out of places and all public places take your temperature,
& we must maintain distance of at least one meter.
No gathering of groups.
There are big fines for those found breaking the rules in Italy in general.

On April 3 to 5 ALL ITALY will be red.
Nice. We can't even celebrate Easter properly.
Churches are open but with extreme distancing....some require appointments.

I'm up in a mountain area and am very lucky to be here.
Hardly anyone got sick with Covid although there were some cases.
The police tend to be friendly and let some things go and are not very strict.
It seems like this is the best place to be.

Up North there are lots of problems...for different reasons. Seems like they brought it back
from China, but this might be speculation.

Everyone in my family, both here and in the states, has been good.
Thank God.
I’m just glad your ok! Sounds like our governor (Michigan) was part of the EU at one time!

How are vaccinations going?

BTW, last year our gov tried some of that the xtreemism and most sheriffs would not enforce it. They even shut down churches. My wife and I go to one that never shut down. Nobody ever bothered us...

I hope this virus gets under control and I hope the vaccine helps slow it down.

Shopping malls are closed on the weekends.
Curious. How is that better? Doesn't that make it necessary for people to do their shopping over fewer days, which concentrates more people over a shorter time period? I'm seeing similar things here during this pandemic. Businesses are opening later and closing earlier, which forces more people to be doing business during fewer business hours. Another example is our local Walmart. There are at least five entrances to the building but during the pandemic, three of them have been closed therefore, everyone that enters is forced to use the two remaining entrances which funnels more people through a smaller area. This actually feeds the virus with more potential victims. These are examples of some the things that have and are being done that just don't make logical sense.

Florida is so concerned about the virus that it shut down the Florida Lottery office.
That should help the 2-3 people who actually win anything from collecting.

WIP, there are many curious aspects to this pandemic.

There was a study done between California and Florida.
California had lockdowns and Florida did not.
The results were the same!

This morning I heard the Gov. of Oklahoma.
He said he believed in the freedom of the people.
He had no lockdowns but only used the hygienic procedures and, again,
the results were the same as the states that had lockdowns.
He even kept the schools open.

So,,,how is it better to close down malls on the weekend?
I asked the same question and had the same concerns you did.
Seems the answer is that people work during the week so the crowds at the mall would not be so great.
They gather there at weekends and so they closed them down.

Ditto for the local Walmart. There's probably a rule stating that no more than a certain number of
persons could be in there at any one time (based on the size of the bldg)....this is the way they can control this better.

Many restaurants and businesses have closed never to open again.
I think we went overboard on the precautions and ruined our economies when MAYBE it wasn't necessary.

Will we ever be sure we did the right thing?

The reporter was right about everything except the schools closing down.
It might be happening in some parts of Italy that have a code red,,,,
but not everywhere.

The sports stadiums have changed the seating color from brown, red, green, etc. to various colors to make it look less
empty....

Actually, I'm happy to hear about the sheriffs not enforcing the extreme measures!
Many do not agree with me here...there are always two sides to every coin.

People are being vaccinated by NEED,
and by date of birth.

I should be getting mine in about April.
Some don't trust the vaccine and plan on not getting it.
They're using Moderna (I think) most of the time and it requires two shots.
Some say they get a little sick after the second shot...
but it's worth it in my opinion.

We need to get back to a normal life!
My friends tell me they don't even feel like leaving the house anymore.

My hubby is sick and I can't leave him alone...or I'd go somewhere even today,,,
and leave my town. Our mental health is at stake....this is bad for everyone.

Are your restaurants closed?

not under governor Ralph in Florida ,lol

Right. I think I mentioned this before.
Gov. Ralph is doing the right thing.
I spoke about the survey that was doing comparing Fla to Ca and they have the same statistics even though
the methods were different.

Do I have my math righ?
Today I heard that 95,000 got the virus (can't remember what figure this is..national maybe)
And 3,000 died from the virus.

Isn't this about 3%???

If so,,, the death rate is the same as for the flu.
I just can't understand what the problem is all about.

It's a ploy by the democrats to make everyone get the shots or they lose all their rights.

The islands are doing something right. Low case numbers and deaths.

Our restaurants just opened to 50% but few are enforcing it. Most are at or near capacity.

Our governor was bad, like really bad. So, a petition went around and we stripped her of her executive powers. She bypassed it by using the health department. But long story short she couldn’t lock it down like she did.

This whole COVID virus is an odd virus. I know a gal and her husband who thought it was a hoax. Wouldn’t wear a mask, wouldn’t sanitize their hands etc. she got COVID, tested positive and laughed because it wasn’t much more than a head cold that lasted a few short days. Three days later her hubby went to the ER because he couldn’t breath. He was in for a week, they discharged him and days later he was back and continued to get worse and he spent almost 3,weeks in ICU. He just went home last week... he doesn’t think COVID is a hoax anymore. Imagine that.

It’s so odd though, she gets a runny nose and he almost dies. My neighbor had the same experience. She got really sick and her husband got nothing...

That's been tried three or four times in MN too but with a majority Democratic legislature, it's an almost impossible task. It is said they are following the science and yet, these decisions are split along party lines. Since when is science delegated by party affiliation?
