The Coffee Thread

This is interesting. A number of years ago I was having trouble with heartburn. I had to keep antacids nearby constantly. One day I was thinking about the amount of coffee I was drinking on a daily basis and decided that it might be good to switch to decaf. My decision was totally unrelated to my heartburn issues. It was purely coincidence. Anyway, after switching to decaf my heartburn problem went away. The funny thing is, when I searched for side effects of drinking too much decaf coffee, the first result I found was heartburn because decaf still contains the acids found in caffeinated coffee. To this day, if I drink regular coffee, I have to have antacids at the ready because within a couple hours I'll be dealing with heartburn and yet I can drink all the decaf I want and I have no issues.
For me... I can't get to the bottom of a cup of decaf before I start feeling the migraine.
 
I enjoy coffee, preferably decaf as explained above, with or without cream, hot or iced, spiked with a little Irish Cream liquor, and spiked with a good bourbon or Irish whiskey with a splash of cream.

One thing that I haven't understood is that I like coffee both hot or iced but room temperature is a no-no for me. Yeah, that's weird.

I had to go to Germany once for my employer and while there I fell in love with the coffee. I don't know how they did it but it was very strong but for some reason it was not bitter. I've tried making strong coffee at home but it always gets bitter. We have a Bunn coffee maker, a Keurig single serve maker, and a French press. I've used various roasts pre-ground and fresh ground beans and no matter what I do, I just have not been able to duplicate that German coffee.
 
The alternative health people claim that sufficient doses of vitamin C and some antioxidants…the big one right now seems to be astaxanthin…can help heartburn.
 
I think I have drank 6 cups of decaf reading this thread off and on today :lol .

Baileys is good one . Nice on a cold day .

Have you tried the Dunkin Donuts whole bean medium roast? I've never had German coffee, but I blend that stuff for about 20 seconds and it's not bitter. Anything that I don't blend myself tastes bitter.
