    Sick

That's Long Term Disability. Remember, you're talking to a guy who's worked in that industry for decades. Companies generally offer STD & LTD for no cost to their employees and a third party risk firm pays the employee around 75% of their base salary. Employees can opt to pay a little out if...

    Sick

Sexually Transmitted Disease. That's what you get when you take more than 3 or 4 days off sick, of course. Everybody knows that. Or, it could stand for Short Term Disability. Nothing negative about it. You get paid a percentage of your salary by an insurance company. I'm sure you know what it...

    Sick

I understand. I'm sure your benefits are very good, but usually it's beyond the control of the boss if you are forced to miss more than a three consecutive days. At that point, you usually must go on STD. That's why I asked. It sounds like a kind of ordeal that would prevent you from commuting...

Have you had to burn thru vacation or go on STD? It sounds pretty disabilitating. Sorry to hear about what you're going thru.

Holiness - are we made holy through repentance and confession

barelohim what are the *n2 and *n3 links supposed to be for? They both draw errors.

Cessationism- have tongues and prophecy ceased, or are they still active?

Thanks to Jim Parker for including scripture to support his argument. Nothing else on this page so far. This is a rule for the Theology Forum, folks. It's not a place to simply give opinions.

Holiness - are we made holy through repentance and confession

This is not directed at the member who posted immediately before me. Please remember the rules of the Theology Forum and the requirement of scripture to support your claim or dispute with someone else's claim. Some members have held to this and followed up without scripture in a subsequent post...

    Why Does God Allow Suffering?

Amen! Nothing happened to cause me to stop drinking, but it just became something that didn't interest or appeal to me anymore. I don't see anything wrong with drinking alcohol in moderation. I just don't like the feeling of even 1 or 2 beers, and the thought doesn't even occur to me to drink it...

Halloween... Christian or secular... is it evil ?

This is a great thread... for The Lounge Forum. Since it didn't begin or proceed with the unique format of the Theology Forum as explained in the rules sticky, to The Lounge it's going. There's no fun in the Theology Forum!! Take your fun to The Lounge! :lol

    Infant Baptism.

Before this thread degrades into a Catholic/Protestant skirmish, please keep the RCC out of this. Baptizing infants isn't exclusive to the RCC, so this discussion can and should focus on this practice alone. As it says in the ToS, RCC discussions are restricted to One-on-one Debates and End...

    Infant Baptism.

Agreed, and this is something everyone needs to consider. In all facets of life, there are people who go further into subject matter than most people have time to. We do what we can to collect information on our own, but almost everyone gets to the point where they need to lean on the work of...

    Why Does God Allow Suffering?

Certainly. This caught my eye. I'm surprised to see you say this. I know you don't believe in a distant God. I think about Job as an extreme example of allowing suffering, but more importantly His message to him later in the book when He's heard enough, starting with Job 38:1-3. I love His...

    Infant Baptism.

This is fine, but lately baptism discussions have gotten fairly heated. FYI, in the future, a good place to have a discussion rather than a debate is the Christian Talk & Advice Forum. If you read the sticky at the top of the Theology Forum with the rules, you'll see this is set up particularly...

    Our Children

Indeed. I have tremendous respect and love for you, for_his_glory. I was/am confident you were not saying that. Just helping you clarify. :) To WIP's point (I believe), He doesn't "need" us to serve Him, but blesses us as we delight in sharing His love with others. Romans 1:18-20

Baptism of the Holy Spirit, is not at salvation

For those who are using scripture, thank you. For those who aren't, please do. Mentioning a chapter in a book does not meet this criteria. Thank you.

    Our Children

I've always understood it to be a privilege rather than a need to share the Gospel. Certainly, you're not suggesting He is incapable of changing lives and revealing Himself to the lost without us.

Is Discussion on Theology helping anyone?

If your question is about my comment about babes and where they post, that is probably a big part of it, but I believe those new to faith stay drinking milk in the shallow end. Later in their walks, they are more likely to float over to the deep end with a T-bone in their hand. And even later...

Is Discussion on Theology helping anyone?

All viewpoints? I agree that we shouldn't attack people, but do we need to appreciate all viewpoints?
