Bible Study 71 Days in Isaiah

Looks like the church wanting to worship the Lord in the way it wants not so much the way He wants... But Lord You dont understand how things are today etc..

Yet again and again here comes mercy and sweet grace...

Isa 58:14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Day 64 Chapter 58 Has been a motivating plan for the ministry and calling in my life right from the start, while I was studying for the ministry.

"Cry aloud; do not hold back; lift up you voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgressions".

Oh how we deceive ourselves in thinking that our self-holiness impresses the Almighty. We wonder why God seems so far away from us in times of adversity. We fast and pray, but to no avail, and wonder why our situation does not change. All the while the helpless has no bread, or the homeless has no place to live. We turn a blind eye to the needs of those around us, and do not help them....God is not impressed!

Verses 6-8 Describe the Heart of God as compared with man's selfish life style.

Verses 9-14 Are the works of man which our Lord delights in, and is happy to answer and supply what he asks.

"For the Mouth of the Lord has spoken" Boy, you can take that to the bank!!

This is just a picture of me complying with these verses, I'm not bragging, I'm just pointing out that I can't say something without backing it up. For the last 20 years, my Wife and I have opened our home to those who don't have a place to live. Some have come and gone, presently, we have two men who live here with us. One of them I was able to present the Gospel to and he received Jesus as his Lord and Savior. The other one thinks he is saved from a childhood confession. Debi and I doubt that it was real. Our lifestyle is a witness to him.

Amen Chopper

Oh Reba, I have never earned much money from being the pastor of relatively small churches that I was called to. It seemed like there was always someone with their hand out, so to speak. I remember a situation here in Greenfield where I started a house church in my home which grew into about 65 people. We were renting a place for Sunday services. I did not take any money for a salary, I worked a second job. All the money that came in went back into the people's needs. I got a call from a Jewish lad who had been saved while attending College. His family had dis-owned him. They had cut off all money for his support. He had called every church in my area, about 20 of different denominations. They all had excuses why they could not help him go from New Hampshire to a friend's place in Penn. by bus.

My Son Skip, on leave from the Marine Corps was visiting. This was on a Sunday afternoon. The collection that day was $100.00. The pastor of the Pentecostal Church in Town said he could not help but he gave this lad my telephone number, and said, the only one that I know that will help you is Pastor Allen. He called me and I said yes, I'll help you. I had no idea how much money he needed. I had a hundred dollars and Skip and I prayed and decided we would give him that money.

We met him at a designated place and drove him to Springfield, MA to catch his bus. I told him that Jesus wanted him to have one hundred dollars which I gave to him. He was overjoyed and said that was what he needed for the bus fares and something to eat....Praise the Lord for always having just enough for my needs and once in a while a little left over for someone in need.

Reba, I know this is long, but I wanted you to know how much I love being a child of my Heavenly Father. And how much I love these "visits" from people He sends to me for help....It's better than being the richest money man on the planet....I am soooooo rich in people! I can't wait for eternity so I can fellowship with those Jesus has put in my path for help or Salvation.

In our human terms this is the highest complement i can give You sir remind me of my Daddy... :yes

Oh, thank you my Dear. I receive that compliment from you. I would have loved to fellowship with your Dad. He sounds like someone I would have cherished that friendship.

:amen Amen Chopper, that is what it is all about, walking the walk.

Once again I have nothing to add, you guys have covered the scripture well. :)

:amen Chopper ! This is why we are to walk by faith & not by sight.

Thank you Deb & AirDancer. I find that those who are truly saved, cannot escape a great and powerful love and devotion to our precious Jesus Who went thru so much so that we could be free from the law of sin and death. Praise His Holy and High Name.

Day 65 So many times our sins keep us from being complete in Jesus. Yahweh is quick to explain that the problem is not with Him. His ear is not dull; so that He cannot hear; or His hand shortened so that He cannot touch us. It is our sins that separate us from His Goodness and Grace.

BUT! Sunday is a cummin!
A Redeemer will come to Zion, and to me!

Sure reads like God is describing the forums... :couch

Always always the mercy and grace.. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him

I heard an old, old story,
How a Savior came from glory,
How He gave His life on Calvary
To save a wretch like me;
I heard about His groaning,
Of His precious blood's atoning,
Then I repented of my sins
And won the victory.

Chorus
O victory in Jesus,
My Savior, forever.
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.

Day 65 chapter 59:1-19
This is a depressing and sad chapter. I'm glad He is there to lift up His standard and destroy His enemies but it is sad that men are such idiots to bring this destruction.

Day 66 Much to my dismay, my ESV does a terrible job translating Verse 19. "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him". Whereby the KJV includes the right translation. I have always liked that Verse because when everything goes South, as they say, because of the enemy, the Holy Spirit causes him to flee.

The result of V.20 "The Redeemer will come to Zion" is a great reviving of Jacob/Israel. Those who were enemies, now bring gifts, and join themselves to God's people bringing great wealth with them. Jehovah Himself causes Zion to be admired by all Nations.

Verses 19-22 has Revelation's new earth being presented by prophesy.
