Bible Study 71 Days in Isaiah

Day 53 Rebellious Jacob/Israel, although they claimed God as their God, they did not depend on Him but on the idols of foreign nations around them.

V.9 "For my Name's sake I defer my anger, for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you".

V. 10b "I have tried you in the furnace of affliction".

V.11 "For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it".

So many times I forget that everything that happens to grow my sanctification and spiritual growth, these things are not for me, but they are for the Lord. They are for His Name's sake. For His reputation as the sustain'er of His child's holiness, that He has brought into His family.

Day 53 - 48:1-22

YLT
Isa 48:18 O that thou hadst attended to My commands, Then as a river is thy peace, And thy righteousness as billows of the sea,
Isa 48:19 And as sand is thy seed, And the offspring of thy bowels as its gravel, Not cut off nor destroyed his name before Me.
Mat 23:37 `Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that art killing the prophets, and stoning those sent unto thee, how often did I will to gather thy children together, as a hen doth gather her own chickens under the wings, and ye did not will.
Rom 9:27 And Isaiah doth cry concerning Israel, `If the number of the sons of Israel may be as the sand of the sea, the remnant shall be saved;

By the way, anyone know what happened to "westtexas'? He started this thread, and I was hoping he would post in it. I wonder if something has happened to him.

Day 55 V.14 Israel feels that the Lord has forsaken them. Like many of us when we desperately need the intervention of the Almighty and there is no response.

V.15 I love God's reply, "can a woman forget her nursing child?"

V.16 One of my favorite verses when I council those who who need to know God's nearness. "I have engraved you on the palms of My hands."

V.33b What comfort to know that those who place their faith and hope in the Lord and those who "wait for Me, shall not be put to shame."

Day 56 The Servant of the Lord is Jesus.

This is a "Servant Song" I'm told and focuses on the rejection of Jesus in order to redeem His people.

I absolutely love V.2 "Is my hand shortened that it cannot redeem?" Let me think about that for a minute, NOT!!
"Or have I no power to deliver?" Oh Lord you have great power to deliver!

I have claimed V.2 for our beloved Claudya's deliverance.

Day 54 49:1-13 Catch up, too.
The Lord said.....
Isa 49:6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles (nations), that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth. (nations) mine
Jesus said to the Apostles which extends to us.
Act 13:47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles (nations), that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

Isa 49:8 Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;
2Co 6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
2Co 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

Day 55 49:14-50:3
Here comes the Church!
Isa 49:20 The children which thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the other, shall say again in thine ears, The place is too strait for me: give place to me that I may dwell.
Hos 1:10 Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.
Isa 49:21 ... Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children,.... these, where had they been?
Isa 49:22 Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles (nations), and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.
Gal 4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
Gal 4:27 For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
Gal 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

Day 56 50:4-11
Isa 50:4 The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
Mat 22:41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
Mat 22:42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.
Mat 22:43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
Mat 22:44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
Mat 22:45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?
Mat 22:46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

I was tempted to chuckle making fun of the Pharisees but I'm afraid to, but He toasted them.

Praise the Lord
Thank you, CF.net for the opportunity to participate in this Bible Study.
I don't want to be like one of those Pharisees, thinking I know but I really don't know.

Everlasting Salvation for Zion
1 "Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn;
2 look to Abraham, your father, and to Sarah, who gave you birth. When I called him he was but one, and I blessed him and made him many.
3 The LORD will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; he will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing.
4 "Listen to me, my people; hear me, my nation: The law will go out from me; my justice will become a light to the nations.
5 My righteousness draws near speedily, my salvation is on the way, and my arm will bring justice to the nations. The islands will look to me and wait in hope for my arm.
6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath; the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But my salvation will last forever, my righteousness will never fail.
7 "Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have my law in your hearts: Do not fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their insults.
8 For the moth will eat them up like a garment; the worm will devour them like wool. But my righteousness will last forever, my salvation through all generations."
9 Awake, awake! Clothe yourself with strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in days gone by, as in generations of old. Was it not you who cut Rahab to pieces, who pierced that monster through?
10 Was it not you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep, who made a road in the depths of the sea so that the redeemed might cross over?
11 The ransomed of the LORD will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.
12 "I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mortal men, the sons of men, who are but grass,
13 that you forget the LORD your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth, that you live in constant terror every day because of the wrath of the oppressor, who is bent on destruction? For where is the wrath of the oppressor?
14 The cowering prisoners will soon be set free; they will not die in their dungeon, nor will they lack bread.
15 For I am the LORD your God, who churns up the sea so that its waves roar-- the LORD Almighty is his name.
16 I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand-- I who set the heavens in place, who laid the foundations of the earth, and who say to Zion, 'You are my people.' "

I could not not post all it this...:woot2

1Pe 2:4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
1Pe 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
1Pe 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded our rock

Exo_19:6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
1Pe_2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Rom_2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

Heb_12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

Mat_26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

1Pe_2:10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Day 57 A comparison of things of earth and things of heaven bestowed by the Gracious loving God.

From a couple who could not have children, God made a way!

From the danger of being cruched by an enemy, God made a way!

From the fear of being forever a captive in a foriegn land, God made a way!
