Bible Study 71 Days in Isaiah

I was rereading everything and it occurred to me we missed something.
In Chapter One, verse four, it says, "They have forsaken the Lord; they have spurned the Holy One of Israel and turned their backs on him".
Who is the Holy One of Israel?
The Messiah.
I checked further and this is a Messianic reference.
The Holy One of Israel is mentioned 28 times in Isaiah, and we know this book is full of Messianic references.
They are rebelling against Jesus.
I think we should keep this in mind as we continue to read.

I agree with you.
Who's backside did Moses see? The Messiah
Who was the Rock in the desert, that flowed with living water? The Messiah
He was always the One, the Alpha and the Omega.

Day 6
13 The LORD takes his place in court; he rises to judge the people.
14 The LORD enters into judgment against the elders and leaders of his people: "It is you who have ruined my vineyard; the plunder from the poor is in your houses.

The leaders, the priests of Israel were judged as being the ones who were at the heart of the troubles of Israel.

Are the leaders of the Church today, plundering the poor with their teachings?
What about the poor as in weak, spiritually? Do we edify them, lift them up?
Do we fill the vineyard planting sour grapes? Do we allow the weeds to grow, hiding the vine?

The church, of which I'm a part, is in sad shape when we compare it with God's heart for His people. If there was ever at time, Deb for the church to wake up from this modern age slumber, it's now IMO.

I agree. Chopper.
And does the church hardly ever read the prophets of old?
Rarely if at all.
I am fortunate, my church just started a study on Isaiah, it gives me double study.

Absolutely right allen, I have been a student of the OT for years and it really teaches me so much of how God operated and the sins of Israel. I believe you hit the nail on the head when you said that the church does not study the prophets of old. Churches today concentrate on the NT, not the OT.

Agreed Allen. it is unfortunate but true. Seldom are the books of the OT explored. Typically it's always NT books.

im glad I never had that problem but I will say I didn't see the tanach as I do now until 2011.but this is a recent phenomon, the older commentaries don't have that problem. see adam Clarke, barnes, matthew Henry.

Because we label one section of His Word OT and the other NT doesn't make one lessor then the other.

How about the History of the Church instead of the OT and dont answer Jason we can not go of topic i will have to delete our post :biggrin2

Because so many people consider history to be dry & boring, it would be better not to have the word 'history' in the retitling of the OT.

How about: "The Road to The Way" for the OT ..... "The Way" for the NT ?

Day 7
Isaiah 4:2-6;

Here is a promise from God for the future.
Being cleansed of sin, being protected by God.

When we are cleansed by the blood of the Lamb, we are then protected by God forever.

There is one verse here that stands out to me:
"he will cleanse the bloodstains of Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire".

I can't help but think there is some deeper meaning here I am not getting.

Day 7 What a wonderful God we serve. When we sin against all that He call Holy, His forgiveness holds no records, and He blesses us as if we had never sinned. This is our example of how we are to forgive!

2 In that day the Branch of the LORD will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of the survivors in Israel.
3 Those who are left in Zion, who remain in Jerusalem, will be called holy, all who are recorded among the living in Jerusalem.
4 The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion; he will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire.
5 Then the LORD will create over all of Mount Zion and over those who assemble there a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night; over all the glory will be a canopy.
6 It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain.

Joh_15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
Rom_11:17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

The Children of Israel were sheltered from the dessert cold by the fire at night and shaded by the cloud by day...

Act 2:19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke
Act 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

Joe 2:30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
Joe 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
Joe 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

Heb_12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

Day 7 - The kingdom of our holy God.

Psa 132:13 For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.
Psa 132:14 This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
Psa 132:15 I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.
Psa 132:16 I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

Isa 4:3 And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem:
Php 4:3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.

I agree with you.

all visions are of the son. any references to the holy spirit isn't in a vision, but as a dove descending upon Jesus and cloven tounges of flame.
