Bible Study 71 Days in Isaiah

Day 10 an interesting chapter, well known by me. I prayed often, when confessing my sins," touch my lips with a coal from the altar, here I am, send me." Also I find it interesting that in verse eight Scripture says and I heard the voice of the Lord saying," whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" I really liked the words who will go for us which points out the Trinity in my opinion.

Isa 6:3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

Some of my thoughts;
th
ese passages seem to speak to the the gospel going to the whole world... beyond the boundaries of the Land of Israel .
They are speaking of Jesus the king of Israel has died once again. Yet THEE King is still on His throne...

Act_1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Mar_16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

thinking of Isa 6:12
Mat 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
Mat 23:38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

Day 10

Isa 6:10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
Mat 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
Mat 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Isa 6:11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,
Isa 6:12 And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.
Rom 11:1 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
Rom 11:2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying,

Isa 6:13 But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.
Rom 11:4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
Rom 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

Day 11 A challenging portion of Scripture that has a duel prophesy about a child to be born of a young maiden. One points ahead to Messiah, and the other points to a child to be born who before he reaches the age of knowing good from wrong, Judah would be saved from the enemy who was going to invade.

Our God is a loving God to those who are called by His Name, but a God of wrath to those who would destroy His chosen. What a wonderful Savior our God is to us. Praise His Holy Name. I sometimes refer to Jesus as my bodyguard.

Day 11 -
Isa 7:3 Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shearjashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller's field;

M. Henry - Shear-jashub signifies The remnant shall return, which doubtless points at the wonderful return of those 200,000 captives whom Pekah and Rezin had carried away, who were brought back, not by might or power, but by the Spirit of the Lord of hosts. Read the story, 2 Chron. 28:8-15.

Day 12 Chapter 8 Verse 5 is especially special for me. In 1990 I was baptized in the Holy Spirit while spending the Winter in Florida. For years I had been praying for the love of Jesus to replace my anemic love for people. I had moved back to Maine and started a "house church" in Portland. While standing in a circle with about ten others who had come into our little church, we were holding hands in a circle praying. As I had my eyes closed, a vision came into my mind of a silver stream running across my mind, and the words, "Be gentle like the waters of Shiloh." Later I had my wife look up in the Scriptures to find if anything mentioned any of the words. She found this verse in Isaiah. Wow, that had and still has an impact in my life! As a result, God gave me a new love for His people.:sohappy

Day 13 I see two elements in these verses. One, A remnant of Jerusalem who fears and trusts YHWH for protection from enemies. Two, Disobedient Jacob who looks to mediums who "churp & mutter" compared with YHWH who speaks clearly....I get a kick out of those two words, churp and mutter. lol! God has a great sense of humor. Gets me thinking of bad sermons, they must sound like that to our Lord. Some sermons that I've seen on TV certainly fit into that category. Some of mine weren't very good when I stop and think about it lol.

:woot

Day 13 -
8:13 thru 16 is all prophecy about Israel, the Lord being the stumbling block..

Oh whoa.... verse 18
Isa 8:18 Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

lol, I do get excited when I see something new to me.
I see the picture now. Once again the two sons and the older shall serve the younger. The old covenant and the new.

What do you think? Anyone? Could this be right?

sometimes the bible rehashes signs and wonders and this could be another allegory in the manner of Jacob and esau

I never thought about it but Lexy pointed out the Moses was younger than Aaron, too. Guess it wasn't obvious enough for me to catch.

Somebody help me out and give me your thoughts. Yesterdays reading 8:2 God takes what He calls 2 faithful witnesses, one of them is Uriah the priest, the other is Zechariah (although not the prophet Zechariah). My study bible calls Uriah an apostate priest and then relates the story from 2 Kings 16:10-16 where King Ahaz (who is in the last few days readings) had Uriah build an altar from the design of a pagan altar which Ahaz saw and liked in Damascus. I'm missing something I know but why would an apostate priest be called a faithful witness?
Any thoughts?
