A Reprobate Mind

John 3:19-21 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."

A reprobate mind doesn't want to attain the full knowledge of God, because they can't stand the light. It will illuminate their darkness.

Matthew 22....(NKJV)
14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.”

Matthew 7....(NKJV)
13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Gary if I made you mad or something I am sorry and ask you to forgive me. I was not being mean. You just put up several scriptures and that was it. It struck me odd for the scriptures you used are used in a different content.
Example......Matthew 22:14 is from the story of the great feast....When they are talking about many are called but few are chosen is referring to several things.
Many are called but few are chosen.........God calls many to salvation or a calling or an assignment and so forth. The reason why only a few are chosen is because He (GOD) has to pick or take of THOSE WHO SHOW UP.
This is why I said what i did because it simply does not apply or answer the question..

No need to apologize.

Those verses show that of the countless multitudes that profess to be Christian, very few actually make it into the Kingdom of Heaven. Some of those people are the ones God let go and the others are simply those who didn't get it right.

Thanks Gary,
However Brother, you are not even close with that description. If you will do me one favor, explain to me how you see this in these verses.
Thanks
Jim

Glad to. :)

Ok, the people God let go.

In Revelation Jesus references the Book of Life and promises not to blot one's name from the Book if they
overcome.

Revelation 3....(NKJV)
5 He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

I think we can all agree that having one's name in the Book of Life is a reference to being saved. If your name is in the Book of Life, you are saved. And if your name is not in the Book, your final destination is the Lake of Fire.

Some believe that once a name is entered into the Book of Life, it will never be removed. I personally believe that because the removal of names from the Book is mentioned 4 or 5 places in scripture, that God does indeed blot names from the Book of Life. He lets people go. At one time they were saved and now they're not. And before anyone even asks.........No. Once the name comes out of the Book, it stays out.

Now the ones who didn't get it right, they are the blind followers of the blind. Being a blind follower means
they can't see what they're following and the blind teachers can't see what they're teaching. The false
teachers believe what they're teaching and the congregation believes the false teacher. These people are
giving nothing but lip service and they don't even know it.

In Jesus' sermon on the mount, He references these individuals.

Matthew 7....(NKJV)
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in
Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Matthew 22....(NKJV)
14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.”

The ones God lets go.

Matthew 7....(NKJV)
13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there
are many who go in by it.
14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

The ones that didn't get it right.

How in the world do you bring reprobate minds into any of these scriptures ?
Peter explains how they knew the truth and then turned from it to do sinful things, just as Paul describes for us the reprobate mind in Romans:

"28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper,
29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips..." (Romans 1: NASB)

Compare this to what Peter said about the brood who departed the truth that he was talking about:

"14 having eyes full of adultery that never cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having a heart trained in greed,accursed children;
15 forsaking the right way, they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness" (2 Peter 2:14-15 NASB)

Let me ask you this....say a man pulled knives on christians for getting into his bussiness and worshiped the devil big time and was into witchcraft way beyond a simple oops. He carried on such in a life style of imoral living and so much evil. Told people to shove thier God crap you know where. Spoke things like they were in the army of satin and blank blank GOD. Rejoiced in saying the Lords prayer backwords and so forth......

Would this be a person of a reprobate mind who God gave over to thier wickedness and could not come back ?
ANSWER this for me please !!!
I don't know. I just know if he keeps it up and continues to resist God, God will one day turn him over to what he loves and will he lose the opportunity to come back to God in repentance. We can judge his behavior, but we can't condemn his soul. God is the one who pronounces Judgment, not us.

Judge his behaior in what way ?

Psst. Just don't let the people read the context where it says that the Christians aren't of them, but rather have an anchor for their soul.

Scripture says we cannot call Jesus accursed when we have the Holy Spirit.

jesus-is-savior.com said:
“For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.”

These Scriptures are speaking about unbelievers, who have heard the Gospel, have experienced the convicting power of the Holy Spirit, and have had the opportunity to get saved; but have deliberately rejected Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

It is ridiculous to claim that these Scriptures apply to believers, because the Bible uses the word "impossible" in Hebrews 6:4. Is it impossible for believers to repent of their sins and get right with God? Did not Peter repent after denying and cursing the name of Jesus? Yes, he did. Did not king David repent after impregnating Bathsheba in an adulterous affair and murdering her husband, Uriah? Yes, he did. 1st John 1:9 promises that "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." So, clearly, Hebrews 6:4-6 is speaking about the unsaved. A person who rejects the Savior is hellbound, and there is no other hope for them apart from Christ

we are not as many which corrupt the word of God
