A Run on Gas

Hi jasonc

Anyway, we've gotten way off the OP's topic and so I'm closing out this conversation on my side. It was good sharing with you.

God bless,
Ted

Hi jasonc

I'm not familiar with it. I know I used to buy hot boiled peanuts from some guy on the way out to the beach that had a 55 gal drum boiling with peanuts. Man, those were good boiled peanuts. I like the fresh ones better than the store bought. The store bought tend to get mushy from sitting around too long. I bought a Toyota Celica Sunchaser from the dealership there in south Ft. Pierce. That was one of the first ones they'd made and it was a cool car. Had a two piece convertible system. A targa top across the two front seats, then flat roll bar assembly and then the back could be put down like a regular convertible top.https://images.buysellsearch.com/image/orig/6ae44ecf07fb0945885c236642c91037/1980-toyota-celica-st-cars-in-salt-lake-city-ut.jpg

Bev Smith ?

Bev Smith ?
Hi jasonc

I'm not sure what the dealership's name was. I just know it was on US 1 just south of town. Has Bev Smith's been there for 40 years? If so, then it was likely that dealership. I know the targa top configuration and engineering was done by a company in Ft. Lauderdale called Griffith's Enterprise.

Ted

Hi jasonc

I really can't remember much about the surrounding area. In those days, the city stopped about where the Toyota dealership was and didn't pick up again until you got to Pt. St. Lucie and then Stewart. Nowadays it's just one long string of storefronts from Ft. Pierce to Stewart. Pt. St. Lucie was just a bedroom housing community and there really weren't many stores out on U.S. 1 then. You'd turn off on Pt. St. Lucie Blvd and drive back into the new housing community. I remember there was a Sun Bank on the corner of U.S. 1 and Virginia Blvd. I do recall an old drive in but I think it was on the opposite side of U.S. 1 from the dealership and was pretty much just an old overgrown lot. I'm not sure how close it was to the dealership. I do remember the tag office was about a mile off U.S. 1 on Virginia Ave. at the county govt offices.

The intruder(s) didn't come back and enter my private property without authority again last night. I was waiting and ready. I stayed up all night on security watch..

I must be the most useless security ever.

So intruders come Friday night and I stay up all night Saturday night waiting and ready. I believed they would come back, and nothing,, then last night I stay up till midnight waiting and ready then decided to have a small sleep and wake in the early hours and the intruders been back. I was so close to catching whoever it was.

I'm not giving up. I'm not sleeping for a whole week now. I believe they will be back.

Hey all,

Well, the price of oil is receding and there are signs now that American oil producers are going to slowly ramp up output. We might make it through all this after all. I've seen a couple of stations in my city that are selling regular for $3.85. That's down about a dollar from the high water mark.

God bless,
Ted

Haven't seen any changes around here. Although, it never got as high as other places in the country, it has remained at its highest for the past few weeks at $4.69.

Hi King Dan of Great the 1st

I thought if it was American oil it might have gone to the American people that's all.

Well, I'm not sure that's how those reserve releases work. I'm honestly not familiar with the process of whether or not oil releases go into the world market or are they somehow earmarked for American refineries and do the American refineries keep it all here after they've processed it. I looked up the issue that you're speaking of and it seems to be a bit muddy. Fox has reported that some reserve oil was sold to China, but they don't really give any information as to how they know this, except: Reuters cited custom's data.

According to this statement put out by the DOE, all of the oil released from the reserves was put out for contract sales and it appears that it isn't just held or sold to U.S. producers, but is thrown into the world markets just like any other crude oil. This would explain why the effort had such little impact on gasoline prices overall.

Like I say, I'm not clear on how the process works, but I'm not sure it's a matter where we tell the Amoco refinery in Port Arthur to "come and pick up a million barrels of crude oil." From what the DOE statement says, the SPR merely releases a given amount of oil into the world market and sells it under bid contract pretty much like every other oil producer in the world does, but it just increases the overall amount of crude available for sale. I could be wrong.

Yes, if China bought or got the bid on a crude oil contract from the SPR release, then there would likely be some 'custom's data' that would show that lot of crude being shipped out of the country. Also, some articles say that China got the oil, but I read a couple of others that said it went to several places around the world.

What's going on Sri Lanka. The President had to pack his bags and split while hundreds of thousands took over the President's palace and had a swim in the pool.

Just an update. Today's price at my local Sam's is $3.78.

Let's go Biden!!!

Interesting how this is happening just before mid-term elections, isn't it? It's also interesting how the prices took off on their upward climb within about a month after the current administration's inauguration. Politics is so predictable.

Hi WIP

I suppose that for those who think that everything is a conspiracy run by a cabal of pedophile child molesters...it might seem interesting. Me, I think it's just supply and demand running it's course. Although I do find it interesting that I went to worship this morning and they talked about Jesus just before the mid-term elections. Hmmmm, wonder what's up with that?

God bless,
Ted
