..... will agree with in their speech, but will totally oppose in their beliefs. And they don't even know it.

Here it is:
"It is not enough to be anti-sin; you have to have a pro-righteousness position. It is not enough to know what not to do; you have to know what to do."

I don't think our Christian walk is about the don'ts (I know there are don't but that's never my focus) and it's not about the do's either (and I know there are do's and we ought to do them). My focus is centered on Christ and an empowering in my life by the Spirit of Christ. From there flows real love and from there flows the right kind of behavior (from a right attitude before God).

The do's in the Bible are reminders (we all need them) but we also must be careful not to focus on the do's and don'ts but to keep our eyes on Christ. We do that consistently, the rest will follow. We are incapable, apart from Christ, to live in obedience (in our own power - never will happen). Only by dying to self will we live for God.

Is that to become saved, not lose our salvation, or qualify to be in the bride of Christ? Thanks.
It is to live the life in this world that Christ told us to live.... "Advance my Kingdom."
Instead, we tend to huddle down, unseen and unheard — hopefully unnoticed — and accept that God really meant for us not to resist any of the secular liberal agendas Satan pursues, and the laws his followers keep inflicting upon society.

Amen.
And I would add; knowing what to do, you must actually do it.

Many of us are like members of a football team that have accepted that our coach (God) cannot beat their coach's strategies. We feel Satan is going to win the game no matter what we do. And so we try to content ourselves with only losing "just a few yards" with each play.

I sit here and try my best to understand how steadily losing yardage is ADVANCING anything for our coach.

I think it's pretty important to focus on the "do's" so that we actually do them.
It seems to me that Jesus said "doing" was very important.
John 5: 28-29 ... the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth — those who have done good,
to the resurrection of life,
and those who have done evil,

to the resurrection of condemnation.

It is not sufficient to know what is good. We need to DO what is good.
Doing what is good (as defined by God) is being salt and light.
And that is what we are supposed to be.

Mat 5:13-16 You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Eph 2:10 For we are His (God's) workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus for good works,

which God prepared beforehand
that we should walk in them.

This room does not allow me to make "LIKES"... so consider this post a LIKE.

Sounds good. In your opinion what would that entail in real time with examples if you can. Thanks.

Well, we might start with no more than making a serious effort to reverse the supposed "law" (which at one time meant: "God's will for mankind." ) that makes Abortions of Convenience something Christians are to shut up about and just roll over and accept.

Good morning Willie, and of course Christianity has been involved big time in anti-abortion efforts. There has been major blockages & confrontations at Planned Parenthood, called days of prayer by thousands, voting against the Democratic party; the major supporter of woman's right of control of her own body, and we are asked to vote which supposedly counts. Do you really think our Christian vote will overturn sin, or that men will continue to wax worse?
2Ti 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

I have not subscribed to those efforts other than private prayer for our nation. I believe that there remains God's word that says for there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God in Rom 13:1. Does our vote, or other efforts change this, or even the fact that Daniel 4:17 tells us that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.

Where does our judgment have effect?
1Co 5:12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without (unbelievers)? do not ye judge them that are within (The body of Christ)?
1Co 5:13 But them that are without God judgeth.
I would add here asking if Jesus judged the government of Rome, or just paid taxes to them as we read in Mat 17:27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them . . .

Blessings in Christ Jesus. :wave2

hmmmm., well, maybe we need to do both. I've re-"thunk" this and I do not only think of what the Bible says we ought to do, I strive to do those things AND also I strive to avoid doing those things of which God disapproves. It starts from being centered in Christ but we also must have the knowledge of the Word so that we're properly equipped with the knowledge of God to live godly lives. This may or may not fit here: https://www.desiringgod.org/article...4PtGEl0GQJ3bartsQmQ1Brm56rVhnw&_hsmi=60914216

So I think we're in agreement. Thoughts?

I was speaking more directly to what Jesus actually told us to specifically do in His own voice. He didn't say to change the world by simply voting in the American political system. I think He indicated that we were to change the world (advance His kingdom) by taking the gospel to those who vote FOR all those things...... not just try to out-vote those who hate Him.

I think one thing we have failed is that perhaps we are to pray, AND produce Christian acctions and presence on the streets of our cities.

Maybe all of you have been doing that on a daily basis, but my meager efforts toward it would be barely noticeable in St. Petersburg.

Boy, I'll get the popcorn for this one, lol. You ask a good question, lol. Here comes the OSAS into the discussion.

I agree with you, exactly how you stated it. It is not enough. Proof is in scripture too. "I never knew you..." is what a lot of people are going to hear. People who believe that they are saved...and apparently, are not. I'd be money not anyone on this board though!

I know what to do too. I guess you could call it building a resume of trust. By obeying the Lord and being a doer, and not just a hearer.

Many times on this board, I've read people write, (something to the effect of), I am saved but not sinless, nor can I be ever on my own, so one day Jesus will come and change me in the twinkling of an eye and then I'll be perfect...It's almost as if they feel, can't do it, don't try. ...and according to my understanding, it just don't work like that.

But scripture also says...Be ye holy even as I am Holy...so you do have to try! You must be, Pro-righteousness. When we make a mistake and sin while walking with the Lord, it is not sin. Willful sin is sin. I don't think many people understand that.

Don't glass over what he said here! I'm coming to the conclusion that this may very well be our prime directive as Believers in our Lord, with regard to 'what we do'. I believe that our prayers are way way more important than we have been led to believe and that way much more is accomplished by our prayers than we've ever comprehended before. So we don't get to see what our prayers accomplish, well that doesn't mean that they don't accomplish anything!

SO keep praying for our nation, and for those overseas also. There's many refugess brought about by the conflicts over there. Don't forget them. Or the peace of Israel, we're instructed to pray for them...
