Some Christians on this forum have said the age of accountability is 20 years old. Since bomber suspect#2 is 19 years old, would he have gone to heaven if he died. What does scripture say about 19 year old's that go on a rampage and kill.

:twopistols:shrug :study

Who says that it is 20 years old? Or rather who for that matter can take a hard and fast position on exactly when people should be held accountable, that is probably more on a person to person basis and it's between them and God.

This is where I stand, too.

urk. I remember this thread discussion of the age of accountability that you speak of. I personally, take the position that the age of 20 was because... all the men under the age of 20 had not been born into slavery in Egypt and were not corrupted by the Egyptian ways.
Just mentioning this so those who didn't see that thread would know what you are referring to. :)

Blessings

It's good that you posted that thread. I believe at that time I did recognize other points of view as being valid.

But I still think that it is on a person to person basis between them and God.

It absolutely has to do with the individual. Specifically, maturity level and the demonstrated ability to understand and convey what they believe. I have seen kids at the age of 12 and 13 coherently explain their beliefs. On the other side, I have also seen some adults that are unable to do so. There is a spectrum.

something to chew on: Who's to say he wasn't saved and wouldn't have went to heaven?

Those who commit murder and do not repent do not have an inheritance in the kingdom, don't let anyone deceive you and tell you otherwise..

Those who have ever believed on the Lord Jesus Christ have a place in the Kingdom. Do not let anyone deceive you and tell you otherwise.

The character and nature of the King saves, not the character and nature of the creature.

Satan would be the ultimate example here...

Eze 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
Eze 28:16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

Hmmm, Satan was a covering cherub (remember the Ark with the cherubs whose wings covered the mercy seat?) until iniquity, sin, lawlessness was found in him. How'd that work out for him?

Hyper grace is so easy to refute...

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! Neither sexually immoral people, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor passive homosexual partners, nor dominant homosexual partners, 10 nor thieves, nor greedy persons, not drunkards, not abusive persons, not swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

For this you know ⌊for certain⌋b, that every sexually immoral person, or unclean person, or greedy person (who is an idolater), does not have an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Ephesians 5:5

Paul and the Ephesians know this with certainty, you don't apparently..

These scriptures are nice and all, but do they have anything to do with the age of accountability.

Sorry Urk I will quit after this one.

Doulos Iesou, Do a study on the new creature In Christ. 1 Cor 6:9-10 and Eph 5:5 Describes both you and I. But our new creatures in Christ that we become(at the moment of belief) will Go to Heaven.

With out a doubt what we do as our "old man" will not go to heaven. Just the new creature that cannot sin will go. We feed the old man or we feed the new creature.

gr8grace It's ok, I'm just very curious about what God says about suspect#2, in that he's 19.

I guess we will find out about his cognitive abilities when this all goes to trial, assuming he makes it that far. Ultimately, however, this is really just between him and God.

the age of accountability is not stated in the Bible. but the age twenty i disagree with. when we come to the knowledge of sin and the need of salvation . then is the time to make things right..

Does scripture say anything about knowing of sin at age 7 or 13.

While I still do sin, the thing that will separate a genuine believer from one who isn't, is repentance! I cannot just live however I want to live and be content that I'm a new creation who is heaven bound no matter what.

But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,†and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.†2 Timothy 2:19(ESV)

We who name Jesus as Lord are to follow in his Lordship and depart from iniquity, and be holy as he is holy, and of course be righteous as he is righteous.

You talk about the one who is a new creation, who is born again is saved, but can still continue to live in the ways described in those passages... you're wrong.

No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. 1 John 3:6

This is referring to those abiding in Jesus, do not keep on living a life of habitual sin, and those who do have neither seen God or known him. Those who have been washed and sanctified must not go back to this life style that is associated their old self which was crucified, but must put on the new self created in righteousness.
