America in the 60s

Did I say the 40's? I thought the OP was the 60's :confused
switchboards were around when you were doing that. I looked it up.the wiki said that its old. just as mom said. she should know her job of 33 years. she was good at it. she memorized towns streets as she had to look them up.in the 80s up till probably now a type of gps(then) was used when you looked up numbers. you could see the addy as well, names and so forth. its similar to I think the gis system.
 
We had one of the few TV's on the block in 54.... A black & white console. We got 3 channels that all went off the air around midnight, and started again around 6 in the morning.
Yes,and before it went off of the air you saw three military planes and they said a prayer.OH BOY! a prayer?The atheists would really complain about that now :lol

Really,that late?I thought we had some programs on all night then.
im an old tv guru of that time. I was asked to fix tv and vcrs often by my dad. I remember the sign off at mid night and signing on at 6 am , usually with the loonies toons on my favorite station( a prior to tbs local independent which we called old channel 8)
